Is it my imagination,or is there lots more TVR meets up north than down here in the lowlands ?
Imagination I am afraid to me it looks like there are more down south than up here. But we do have some fantastic drives out, the peak district and yorkshire dales are within easy striking distance, the dambusters run out and around near Derwent water was great
if you are ever at a loose end on a saturday morning there is a regular meet up for a sausage sandwich and a brew in Greenwich park.
There are plenty of TVR meets up and down the country. Here oop norf, the South Yorks, East Yorks, Tees Valley, High Peak Nomads, GMMC ( Greater Manchester, Merseyside & Cheshire ) Staffs & Shrops Regions are all very active.
Darn sarf the East Mids, Herts & Beds, Mid-Essex all have events and meets, as do lots of others.
There is a tendency these days for events to be publicised more on Facebook than on the forums, which is a shame as a lot of people don't get to hear about them.
The next big one I shall be going on in October is the East Yorks "Goth Run" to Whitby, a nice drive through stunning scenery and then parking up, enjoying tasty fish and chips whilst taking in the weird and wonderful sights of Goths and Steam Punk devotees strutting their stuff through the streets of Whitby. A great day out.

Thanks GOG.
I'd feel a bit odd turning up in a silly FIAT......
Peri! Don't go selling Fabio short! I'd feel a bit odd turning up in a silly FIAT......
You'd be most welcome at any of the TVR meets I attend, any little boat that does solo trips around the Continent is, in my view, worthy of greater respect than any of the garage queens that just get rolled out on a sunny weekend and do about 300 miles or less a year between MoTs.
For me, it's all about the driving experiences, the camaraderie and the banter.
Anyway, there are FIAT-sourced parts on both my TVR S-Series!
FIAT 124/ Lada Riva front lower ball joints and FIAT X1/9 seat pivot cover trims.
You don't need to own a TVR to come along to TVR Club meets, just an interest in the marque is sufficient. We are a very gregarious bunch.
Mostly.
Well , except for that miserable bunch of gits over there....

Well I'm off tomorrow to the land of sun and fake watches. Might even pick myself up one of these for £60 to rave about on the watch thread.
If anyone wants anything fancy let me know and we can settle up in Oxford
Turkey or China? If anyone wants anything fancy let me know and we can settle up in Oxford
I bought a lovely Breitling Evertime blue sunburst automatic copy for about 60 quid over 15 years ago.
Loved it, but I managed to smash the sapphire crystal glass on it a couple of years ago and it was not possible to get a replacement. The plating on the back "Turbine" cover was starting to wear a bit thin after 13 tears of more or less continous wearing, but it had done sterling service and kept excellent time.
I haven't seen another one like it since, but I'd certainly buy one if I did.
If it's Turkey, please give my regards to Mehmet.
Have a great trip, Al.

Have you ever been on one with one power car down? They put them on the slow line.
The shame.
Most of my train commuting was on 125s. Never fought for a seat - in the bar, tea in the morning, beer in the evening.
Worked a few that were One Engine Only - still capable of winding up to around 115mph, just takes a lot longer....The shame.

On the other end of the scale is what the HSTs are being converted for now, medium distance work in the West Country and Scotland. Two power cars but only 4 carriages rather than 8 - we call them HST GTIs because with 4,500bhp to move 120t they really do shift, but can't go over 100mph because the shorter train means a reduction in brake force. The power car I pictured earlier is the very first production machine, 43002. It was reliveried back into original IC125 Blue/Grey/Yellow for the 40th anniversary celebrations back in 2016, and is earmarked to go to the national collection in York when it is retired.

It has broken but they are like rocking horse poo to find, when I take the seats out to replace the foam I will get my mate to weld it back together
