Is it a polycarbonate shell?
And do you spray paint it on the inside surface?.
Yes to both glenrobbo, I trimmed the excess off, drilled any holes required and tidied the edges, masked the windows, lights and where the black would be then sprayed it inside, then you remove the protective film coating, I've still got detail parts, led lights and some stickers to add!!

Morning chaps, went looking at new build apartments in Woking yesterday as well as skiing holidays for xmas, expensive times ahead biggrin
I've never been skiing in Woking.

In fact I've never been skiing. frown

It just seemed to pass me by. I believe it's a bit dangrous?
I only did safe things like hang gliding... cloud9
I've never been skiing or hang gliding, but I did used to ice skate, but not in Woking!!

You're too modest, Gog.

Still debating my first foray into TVRness. I'd like a late 60s or early 70s Vixen or Tuscan and have done since they were current. The problem is userbility over repairability. Would a later one be a safer bet to start with for my branch of the real world?

Space is always a problem.

A wheeze I have been considering is to replace my daily and the truck with a 4x4 and a trailer. If I get pushed for space I just put something on the trailer.

You seem to have gone off on one there, Dicky.

Yes, sorry, I'm a bit hungover.

A good idea if slightly flawed, I'm sure a man of your calibre has towed on many an occasion but have you towed with a trailer with another car on? It's a very different experience, having said that if you're towing with a chunk of 4x4 then I'm sure it will be fine, my only experience of towing a car and trailer was using a mk4 Cortina to tow another mk5 Cortina on a car trailer!!!

Every TVR needs a certain amount of TLC, they are all getting more and more expensive too, wedges are probably the cheapest way into TVR ownership, S's are classic looking but mostly v6 powered except the odd ridiculously expensive v8S, chimaera's are the most common and possibly the most usable (but are still strong money) Griffiths are good but expensive and all the modern ones are 20k plus. I dont know a lot about the classics, I would imagine that they are possibly easier to work on (old school carbs etc) but more difficult to get bits for.

In short buy what you like and you can afford and expect to spend money and time fettling it

Dicky,
If you like the Vixen/ Tuscan TVR shape, then I would suggest a Taimar would suit you for useability and practicality. The handy hatchback tailgate is far better than trying to lug stuff in and out over the seats. Serviceability is also good, with the 3.0 litre Ford Essex lump, and the sort of economy you woukd expect from that engine allied to a lightweight sports car with big Webers! ; )

As with any TVR, the three most important things to check are:
1. Chassis
2. Chassis
3. Chassis

Also beneficial is the engine unleaded fuel conversion using hardened valve seat inserts.

As for the space thing, the only car ever known to go into space is Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster cool

The Top Gear Reliant Robin ran a close second but ultimately failed when it failed to separate from its booster rocket. frown

Thanks, TVRites.

I have an invitation to visit V6 and his Vixens to get up close and personal. Perhaps a TVR Virgins Meeting is called for.

Morning folks.

Had a most enjoyable night last night in Portsmouth watching this lot:

Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets - two hours of early Pink Floyd.

V6 and the Vixens?
That sounds like a fab name for a '60s revival girl group cool
scratchchin Tottie and the Taimars?

I'd be up for that as well, my siblings all live close to Pushfit country, and I'm sure I could persuade my bro-in-law Barry S1 to come along as well in his S2. Plus his brother Trev has a Chimaera who is keen on trackdays.
There are some nice TVR back roads around the Herts/Essex border if anyone would like a "TVR Experience"!

Or we could arrange a meet at Duxford just up the road in Cambs, thus completing the TT Oxbridge Varsity Couplet. wink
I can guarantee that Duxford Museum is an excellent place for a full day visit. Definitely has that WOW! factor.

Alternatively the TVRCC always put on a good display ( static ) of various pristine examples on the Club Stand at the Birmingham NEC Classic Car Show in November.
Access is very easy by rail, the NEC is just a short walk down a covered concourse from Birmingham International Station.
It also saves all the hassle and exorbitant cost of parking and trying to find where you left your car in the evening in the vast car park complex. confused ....... weeping
I usually attend, but it does get very busy later on on Sat/Sun, so I may go on the friday this year.

Just a few morsels of food for thought there for you. smile

That's extremely brave of you, Fatboy!
You must be well hard!

Be careful on the changeover though:

My dear Pushfit,
I'm not jealous. No no.
Not one bit.

Whereabouts in Turkey are you?

They do have one or two decent indigenous reds over there. Angorra is quite palatable.

Edit: or the finest Kavaklidere...
