Good point wildcat. Funnily enough one of my goals with the cAr was to get a photo/vid of it sideways at night with smoke pouring off the tyres and 12 4 inch exhaust stubs belching blue flame. With me driving wearing a dinner suit a fez and smoking a hookah sat in the passenger seat.

I’ve no idea if your car qualifies as steampunk, but it’s brilliant, bonkers and I love it! It looks superb. Not the kind of thing you’d necessarily nip out in for a “big shop”, but utterly fantastic nonetheless. I’d love to do a Scandinavian roadtrip in it, because... reasons.

Ok, I'm seeing some brass details and some gears, but apart from that there isn't a lot that screams "Steampunk" about that car (pretty though it is). If anything it's more Dieselpunk.

That's not to detract from what is obviously a very professional build.

Oh that disappointed me. I was expecting buxom girls in brass goggles doing rude things.

Yeah, if it's internal-combustion powered then almost by definition it's not steampunk. The basic premise of the entire genre's aesthetic is 'what if the internal combustion engine hadn't been invented?', hence all the steam-powered motor bikes and double-decker steam trams and Cayley-esque flying machines.

Granted, diesel punk is more Art Deco and streamlining (think LMS Coronation, Boeing 247, Chrysler Airflow and EMD FT) rather than just a fairly conventional, if very nicely made, hot rod with a fancy clock. Calling it steampunk is the sort of thing that gets Mr. Pikedevant very upset - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFCuE5rHbPA

Now THIS is a proper DieselPunk hot rod: http://www.motortrend.com/news/airplane-engine-193...

If that 1933 Ford had had the steam motor from a Sentinel steam wagon or a Shay locomotive then that would be steampunk!

I quite like the steampunk look.

If I were going to get into dressing-up, that is what I would go for.

Just Victorian with a dash of technology right?

And I already have that exact model Sterling engine on my desk - who knew I was already a Steampunk.

I happened upon a steam punk event the other weekend, my niece loved the tea duelling, she was over the moon that she won 3 rounds against seasoned competition.
