My best beloved just bought me the Bosch 12v Flexiclick for crimbo. £125 is a genuinely decent price there.

I was about to go ahead and order that Philips telly before I read one of the reviews saying that the user runs a Fire Stick with it due to slightly poor software on the TV for streaming apps. I'm thinking about a new one because my ageing Samsung is a bit annoying on that front, so I guess I'll pick up a discounted Fire Stick and see how that goes :-). I got a kids' tablet for cheap too, happy days for a bound-to-be-popular Christmas present!
Probably every TV I’ve used from cheap to expensive the built in software is crap. It would be nice if they just binned it off as I suspect a large portion of those accessing that type of content are doing it through a 3rd party piece of hardware.
What are you using it for? My Sony runs android which works pretty well and me LG uses their OS and that also works fine. I only use it to access the various streaming apps though.
I plugged a 4k max firestick in mine, but in fairness (and I've had a fair few 'smart tv's') this runs Android 11 and is very snappy, built in Chromecast too. It's probably about the only one I've had where the 'smart' bit isn't a worthless gimmick, they've definitely come on from even a few years ago.

Many thanks. Looks good.
It arrived today (about 18 hrs after ordering) all wired in, it's pretty good, picture is awesome, I'll likely put in a soundbar at some point, ambilight is neat (and saved me from plugging in USB led's) OS is very fast, in truth, the only thing I've found that annoys me a bit is the fact that you cannot hide any unwanted sources that you don't need/use,and it shows a LOT of sources. It turns on a damn sight quicker than my previous Philips smart tv too (7 yrs old)

I think the current economic circumstances, future uncertainty, and the fact my mortgage has so far gone up by over 200 quid a month has made me more vigilant about wasting money on a load of st. I would like a new big telly, but on the other hand it’s 500 quid I don’t need to spend, so I’m not. Etc. So this year I’m not buying any of this stuff.

Oh. Right. It's to go with the other 70Tb I have already as I'm running out of space.

Prime exclusive early access sale.

I've found a few goodies, saved a (genuine) £300 on a Philips 4k telly, I know because I've been watching it for ages.
And a few hundred off (possibly an Acer oled laptop. So I'm quite happy.
Please could you provide a link to the telly, I’m in the market for one and am hoping you fully researched the market and can save me hours of research. biggrin

Thanks for posting this, would any kind experts on here be able to let me know if this would be noticeably better/worse than a 4 year old Samsung Qled:

https://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-qe49q7f-qled-hdr...

I am bit lost on most of this stuff, I only use it for watching sport, the firestick and the odd film - I'm not too precious about the finer points, I just want a decent picture. I have seen a mates QLED and think it's great but wondered how this compares at the price point.

I'm repeating myself but I absolutely love Echo Dots. At £17, it's the cheapest the Dot 3 has ever been. https://amzn.to/3CSHoLS

I am not sure I am bothered about getting the ball-shaped one. Looks more clumpsy and intrusive.

PS I have 3 Dots... dotted... around the house.

PPS I couldn't ever date a woman called Alexa because I'd probably shout commands at her. biggrin
Ha - we have 8 Echos…. 5 Dots in bedrooms, another in the kitchen, an Echo Studio in the living room, and an (annoyingly temperamental) older Echo one in the garage. I bark at it all the time... Lounge lights on/off, play xyz music, turn the TV on/off, boost the heating to 21C, announce ‘dinner is ready’, use it as an intercom, etc etc... Brilliant things.

Aftershave.

In all seriousness, I nearly bought the 20Tb one but the £/Tb showed the sweet spot was 16. For some reason the 18Tb was £50 more than the 20Tb which didn't make sense.
