Hi,

I have a '14 F25 X3 with manual folding mirrors and I'm planning to keep this car a long time. Unfortunately I need to constantly fold the mirrors and I bought this car without checking this option was fitted. Doh...

I've tried to find some info on how to retrofit this but there doesn't seem to be a lot out there, especially if you have manual seat adjustment.

Anyone here done the conversion or know anyone that has?

The tech is similar to the E8* 1 Series of the same era, which I made sure to check up on before buying mine at the time, and as you say, if you have the leccy seat option, there was an expensive way of doing it, but with manual seats, I don't recall it being possible, or rather not economically viable, as you have to install the appropriate memory modules, and get them coded etc.
There was a guy on the 1 Series forum that a lot of people when to for retro fit stuff, and he seemed pretty good, Pete somebody IIRC, and I'm sure there was a guy on the forum who had the folding mirror retro-fit done on his 1 Series by this guy, but it was an eye watering bill.....

The E8* 1 Series is not of the same era at all, its a generation older.

It's entirely possible and does not require memory seats. You need the correct mirrors with motors fitted, a new switch, and to fiddle with some wires in the drivers door. The memory seat function is only required if you wish the mirror to auto dip on reverse.

Thanks Fox. It's the fiddling bit that I need more information on. There's a good discussion on an F30 forum https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t... but I've no idea as to whether it's applicable to an F25 or not...
