You always own the option of having no opinion. There is never any need to get worked up or to trouble your soul about things you can't control. These things are not asking to be judged by you. Leave them alone.
He has a lot more. He should have wrote a book! The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee

One of those typical quotes than sounds all clever, but the reality in sport is that shooting is not always the best option. A pass to a team mate in a better position to score is likely to be the better choice.Although Wayne Gretzky was the greatest hockey player of all time. Leading scorer in NHL history, more assists than anyone else, the only NHL player to score over 200 points in one season, which he actually managed 4 times...
So, kinda seems like he can say something like that and get away with it.
Gretzky's brilliance isn't in dispute, but the quote is still emotive nonsense. A tidy little soundbite for sure, and also correct when taken in isolation, but as a sporting mantra it holds no sway.
Witness footballers the world over being criticised for shooting when they should have passed.

“Suppose it's all true and you walk up to the pearly gates and you are confronted by God. What would Stephen Fry say to him, her or it?”
Stephen Fry:
“I will basically, I'll say, "Bone cancer in children? What's that about? How dare you! How dare you create a world where there is such misery that is not our fault! It's not right. It is utterly, utterly evil. Why should I respect a capricious, mean-minded, stupid god who creates a world that is so full of injustice and pain. That's what I'd say.”
