High pressure starting to arrive. This will bring some stonking autumn weather, and a risk of fog.

Crisp sunny days, and hopefully still some colour on the trees.

Snowing again in Colorado. 2-6 inches expected where I am, though probably a lot more where Bertie is. About quarter of an inch settled so far, though it is expected to snow all day.
It was clear most of the day up here but then the snow came in this afternoon. The west side of Vail Pass got hit quite hard. It was snowing pretty hard by the time I went off duty today - probably had 2-3 inches in less than 2 hours.

Models are pointing to a massive Scandi high forming in a week or so.

Nirvana for cold fans in deep winter. Will be interesting to see what it delivers this early in winter.

Last winter's Sudden Stratospheric Warming is still influencing the weather.

Your tires are more likely to melt than anything else at that time of year.

Is it too early to get an idea as to the weather for mid December?

I go to the Manchester Christmas Markets each year and typically it's dry and very chilly (which is lovely for that type of event).
Although last year I drove up in the middle of the big snow storm (I posted in last years snow thread about it in case anyone remembers)

Hopefully no snow this year as I sold the Land rover for a BMW hehe

I just had to pop out to the store. As it's been a long time since I saw snow in the UK (not a dig smile, I've just not been back at the right time), I can't remember if you get the situation where, when the sun comes out (also not a dig smilesmile), the roads clear almost immediately as the black surface heats up - leading to the roads looking like they're steaming?

It was like that up here on I70 today - started off snow packed and then it just evaporated when the sun came out.

It was cold this morning when I started my shift. -10f (-23c).

The models are beginning to show alignment for a beast from the east. I'm yet to be convinced in its potency so early in the season.

Nice.

However, Thames Valley here remember, not know for its snow. I've just had a new set of winter tyres fitted to my winter wheels. The previous set of winter tyres were getting old at seven years with the tread blocks hardening and loosing their squish and being about 3/4 worn it was time for a new set.

I can therefore categorically state that having spent money on more winter tyres that it will not snow!

...but I hope it lashes down with the stuff.
