Wind creating waves down the Liffey in Dublin - 50-60mph winds predicted all day. I need to fly home!

Increasingly good odds of some high pressure next week - as much as I enjoy a variable climate, I love high pressure and warmth!

My plane in to Manchester this morning had one of those moments where it sinks like a stone.

About to board on the way home and looks like it's improved...

So Puggit, what's the run up to the clocks going forward looking like? I remember in 2013 the clocks had gone forward, it was still daylight at 8pm and we were completely snowed in.

Any signs of a late winter resurgence?
Sorry, as a Watford and Wales fan - been a busy day!

No signs of winter, just spring!

???? Is that some kind of beauty soap for horses?
rofl

Equal amounts of darkness and light.

Not equinox, that's when the Equator is level with the centre of the Sun. ie there's no tilt on the planet, and the sun appears directly above the equator.

Feels like we've turned a corner today...is winter done?
Most probably, BUT the long range charts continue to dangle the cold carrot in long distance, as they've done all year!!

At this time of year "long distance" might as well be Christmas.
All I'm saying is that there isn't a 0% chance of having cold hehe

confused

Mild today as a low passes north of Scotland and drags warm air up from the SW with it. With warm Atlantic air comes cloud and some humidity.

Very pleasant week, thanks to high pressure. BUT... the indications are high pressure will move to our west for the weekend, allowing a northerly wind. So cool conditions, but unlikely to see snow, and very unlikely to see disruptive snow.

It must have been over 20 in the South East on Sunday?
Wasn't even close - one of my local official stations, RAF Odiham, only recorded 13. https://www.weatherhq.co.uk/weather-station/odiham

Getting concerned by the forecast for Algarve over the holidays. A mere 17 or 18 redface

A short period of northerly winds along with some precipitation from the Atlantic will bring sleet and snow this week, particularly on higher ground, Tues-Weds.

This is not an April Fool.

I fancy one of those weather station gadgets so has anyone got any recommendations?

Remote outside sensor with the monitor/screen inside. I've looked on Amazon but don't really know where to start.

Yes, I know this should go in the Frivolous thread!
I'd look for one that connects to your phone/tablet. I used to rate Oregon Scientific, but I'm not sure they've developed much.

The Netatmos look amazing, but don't have wind speed indicators. However, if you live in a developed area, you may not get much wind accuracy anyway!

They do look snazzy! Looks like the full weather station pack can measure your wind. wink

Oregon are the old grandfather of weather stations. Those units show only temp and humidity - radioed in to the base station. Accurate (as long as it's out of the sun!!) and a good start smile
