Local Rag is quite tame

We are however in firm, entrenched DM territory so maybe this is why

And the usual from the Express

Uh oh, I'm driving from Cardiff to Gatwick on the 1st of Feb - should I be considering some winter tyres?
We are a week away, and until we're 2-3 days away, something as incredibly wintry as this has a very nasty habit of disappearing.

However, the most likely outcome at the moment is either cold or very cold - with snow possibilities (ie not cold and dry!). Certainly I'd advise everyone to start thinking ahead. Just common a common sense approach to winter - not a full scale panic!

We *could* be on the verge of a wintry spell that we'll remember for a long time smile

No downgrades overnight. The 6am GFS is rolling out and makes pleasant viewing for snow fans towards next weekend.
As long as we get no additional snow over Fri 1st and Sat 2nd Feb...I'm moving house!

Schmalex - was this you? Is this confirmation that the wintry spell is ON?!

Snowing fairly heavily here this morning. We are supposed to get around 16 inches of the white stuff today.

Another reason we replaced our 2,200 with a 1,000l tank. Much less potential for theft.

Mum's got a couple of friends around that way, I'll ask her if they're alright.

So - we now have UKMO, GFS and ECM agreeing on an easterly next week. That's a full set.

Ramp, ramp, ramp!

It's going to be one hell of a mistake for all 3 to be wrong.

Tomorrow I'm going to start posting memes if all is still in place.

So if I understand correctly, what you're saying is that we're getting about 2ft of snow soon???

I'm not saying that, but at this point I wouldn't rule it out either.

Realistically we need to get to Mon/Tue before we can shout 'Beast from the East' - they have a nasty habit of showing up and then disappearing. However, normally one of 'the big 3' models is usually coy about it. This time all 3 are shouting from the same page.
