Interesting. At least it's not sodding China.

How'd you guys know that? Can't see anything on the website about it.
Googled it. They aren’t really upfront about it which suggests to me that more stuff is made in Sri Lanka (in a factory they own) than Scotland where they have “some manufacturing” and quote “UK led designs” and they are also “Garment without Guilt” accredited which isn’t relevant to the UK.
Nothing against them at all but I wish companies could be more upfront and then people can make an informed choice. I’ll put money on that jacket not have a Made in Scotland label.

Agreed yes

If a company makes stuff in the UK, they'll be shouting it from the rooftops and using it as a USP.

I've got one of these.

Very very warm.

Also have one of the Keelas posted above. Really good bit of kit, really waterproof but not warm.

I’ve just bought one of these and it’s a great jacket. Ridiculously warm. Not tested it in heavy rain yet but reviews seem good.

How does the fit come up with one of those?

I hate ordering clothes online as every sodding company seems to come up a bit different. I’m a traditional large so go with that or a size up?

Keela Munro. https://keelaoutdoors.com/product/munro-jacket/ Made in Scotlandshire, used by many Rescue Teams. I've tried one and really liked it for £200. I have a £450 Mountain Equipment MRT Kongur and the £200 Keela is easily as good.
Hmm that looks like a damned good technical garment but not entirely sure about the warmth?

Maybe I should have said warm coat rather than parka as that can mean different things to people.
Warmer than a simple shell, quite heavy but not lined at all. Very good functional jacket for moving about on hills. If you're watching football get the NF coat.

Any suggestions for a good quality parka?

I don't mean Moncler or Canada Goose or something daft just something that is warm in UK cold weather and worth the money and won't make me look like Roy Cropper.

Never sure with some brands how much is name v quality.
I picked up a Barbour Artic Parka at the weekend and it passed the Sunday football touchline test up here in the sunny NE.

https://www.barbour.com/uk/barbour-arctic-parka-ja... - £339

Re overcoats if I didn't already have far too many, I've got a lot of love Wax London's Kray Coat - £275

I’d say dont size up, i’m normally an xl and i can happily wear two thin under armour hoodies under it (not medium thickness hoodies) if i want to, not that you need to as its so warm.

i’m a body builder shape to, so quite difficult to accommodate and this has plenty of free movement under arm and actual arm (which is where i normally have problems)

Hood is fantastic on very windy days but is detachable, always love a 45° hand pocket for walking and these are perfect situated and the right size for hands, the little things hehe

Been in drenching / driving rain and not a drop has penetrated.

I'm L/XL depending on brand and my L McMurdo is vast on me. Be aware it is stupidly warm though, so not a coat for being active in anywhere outside the Arctic circle. biggrin

Something like a McMurdo is too expensive and overkill smile

Style wise I tend to find myself looking at Arc'teryx and Peak Performance just not many places locally and it's quite a lot to spend blind.

Yes, 1000s of them donated after 1920s vintage grandfathers pass away.

Maybe that could be a new thread? The difference in prices that PHers pay for things?

Agreed! hehe

I have Mountain Equipment down jacket and shell, plus Rab soft shell all of which I recommend. My Rab sleeping bags are both 25+ years old FWIW. Arcteryx is very expensive IMO and I can't see the reason (And I have one of their fleeces, bought in a rush.)

Cool logo and font I do admit.

That's the thing the Arcteryx stuff looks nice but then Uniqlo do something that looks very similar.

Almost the longer "urban parka" type look I think.
