incredibly well made and versatile. Not my usual thing, but once tried it became a firm fixture.
Nice.

I have a genuine one of the original version. It was about 20quid. Not 100% wool, but warm and very comfortable. I removed the badge patch.

Could that be one which would be too hot for practical uses?

That looks really cool and unique. Would love to try/have one but can't justify the cost.

Buy an M51 US Army wool shirt instead.

I'm after some too.

budget. max £100. less the better
style - rather plain. but I'm only 30yrs old, so i don;t want to look like farmer or some old guy. dont mind a sports brand but i don't want big logos.
material - lightweight and movable. i don't want some kind of heavy/thick/restrictive peacoat.

basically i want something that's light, technical, good deal of pockets. a removable fleece would be cool as it means i could basically go to work in a tshirt. at the same time I'd a little bit of a chubby/ stocky person with some muscle so i think one of those down jackets would be suitable for me as I'd pretty much look like the michellin man.,

going off on a tangent I'd rather like some kind of parka too, either black or green with a miltary style, to suit the kind of person into rock music. or a navy parka with a faux collar, handsome looking.

I can see you are in London.

Take a trip to Westfields or Oxford and regents street area.
Visit lots of shops.
Try some on.
Look in a mirror.
Buy one.

If you want something more hardcore, visit a specialist skiing/outdoor type retailer.

Job done.

That’s what I want, a coat that keeps me warm sat watching football on a freezing cold night in winter.

Shouldn't that be about the layering rather than a big coat.

Some truly awful things being suggested so far as expected.

That green parka thing with the goggles and torch looks exactly like something a football hooligan or ageing chav would buy on pay day. Along with anything by CP Company or Stone Island.

North Face has been seized upon by 'kids' and the working class, so you have got to be a slightly careful what you buy from that brand at the moment.

I quite like a lot of things by Musto, Schoffel, Barbour (not Barbour International), Dubarry, Belstaff, etc

But the truth of the matter is, there are very few 'winter coats' you can buy that will you will be able to wear your whole wardrobe.

I have a quite a few winter coats. Long wool coats (a camel colour and a dark grey), Canada Goose coat, Belstaff dark brown leather jacket with winter lining, a Musto green quilted shooting coat, a longer style tweed Musto coat, and a couple of much more casual padded down-filled jackets by Hugo Boss/A&F etc.

I can't see how you can only have one winter coat? If you went to something that required you to be dressed in a suit for example, you couldn't wear a Parka or 'Puffa' type jacket over it, you would have to wear something like a long wool coat.

Or conversely if you were going to a more casual outdoor event and were wearing jeans and a polo shirt/jumper, you probably wouldn't want to wear wool coat, and a Canada goose type jacket would look far better.

Am I missing something?

I suppose everyone will suggest something different as there is a huge range of ages and tastes on PH.

I thought my dog print waterproof parka was an excellent choice for dog walking - even has zip pockets which I need to keep inquisitive hounds noses at bay. smile

I’m sticking with a Barbour Wax Jacket, Barbour Quilted Jacket, and then a big pull & bear parka for when it’s really cold.

You need to realise that the language and terminology used in my posts is very often tongue in cheek, and designed to be vaguely amusing.

I am serious with regards to the overall sentiments of my posts, but the words, not so much.
