Um yes. You must all have broken taste buds if you can't taste the difference. Freezer burn is a thing and wrecks any food that's been left in there for too long.

She also used to believe that freezers were some sort of time machine where it didn't matter what you put it them, you could leave stuff there for 20 years and then eat it as 'use by' dates don't apply if you're freezing it.
I also have this belief
It isn't true?
I've never defrosted anything that's gone off, does anyone know anybody that has?
I recently defrosted some twelve year old 'fresh' blackberries. It wasn't good frown

I thought the whole point was you could freeze it so you didn’t have to worry about the use by date?
Only up to a point. Freezers have their own 'use by' dates as well if you look in the manual and the time period varies considerably between different food types.

I've got a container of cooked apple pulp in the back of the freezer from the last house move. It was from our own trees in preparation for a yummy crumble or pie, but events got in the way.
It must have been in there just over ten years now.

It's caused by bad wrapping though, not length of time in the freezer and won't kill you. Just cut off the bad bits.

My mother once found a bag of spareribs at the bottom of an old chest freezer and decided to cook them up for Dad. They could have been there any length of time between 6 months and 3 years. It was immediately obvious they were not 'good', the smell as they cooked was very, very wrong and they had a wierd green tinge to them.

Even our poor old dog couldn't keep them down for more than 30 minutes, although the neighbour's dog seemed to still enjoy them second hand. Whether he kept them down we were never sure of. laugh

My dad always answered the home phone by reading out the phone number back to the caller, <snip>
My late father always did this as well. He worked for BT for a while so he got a choice of numbers, he chose 54321 (this was in about 1980).

It was fun until kids started ringing and after he had recited the number they would say "0 Liftoff" and then hang up laugh

My inlaws have a dishwasher that hasn't worked for at least 6 years. They are still deciding on what to replace it with (this isn't a financial issue). They use it to store the dirty dishes in before washing up so they don't clutter up the kitchen...

They don't like driving in the dark in the evening, but driving in the dark in the morning is OK.

My late grandmother...
With it being the weekend that the Clocks go back I was reminded that Grandma would not change her watch onto BST as this would waste the battery.

Mine are similar - a lovely cup of coffee with the ten o'clock news*, just what you need at that time of night.

*BBC, not ITV, obviously
I do this. What's weird about that ? I like coffee and it doesn't keep me awake at all.
Yep same here, doesn't stop me sleeping.
Maybe I'm the one with the weird routine then - last coffee of the day is generally 3.30'ish
Last cup of tea for me around 10am!

I am in hospital at the moment and as is the norm there are a lot of older to very old patients of both sexes on the ward ,they take the eccentricities to another level . Much of this caused by dementia which is very sad. Most of them unfortunately are only in the waiting room ready to enter the gates above .

Actually my work emails are spot on
I just don’t bother when I’m on here, it’s usually done on a mobile or in an open office, in a stollen moment when i should be doing something else.

The real sadness is occasionally you catch a glimpse of the vibrant mind that is overwhelmed by dementia in its various forms .

The scariest thing about dementia is that you'd never know you have it

I didn't really mean the effects of dementia , that is a very sad.

I meant people being affected by their medication etc.

Ive found some pretty exuberant wiring, that consisted of two things wired into one plug,
both fles's were pretty freyed.
and the plug was at waist height behind a curtain.
