What was the best day of your life and why?
Discussion
Top of the list is our wedding day, without question. The venue, the people, the reception, just everything was wonderful. We had a 1965 MGB Roadster at the time, and driving back from Old Colehurst Manor we must have been a sight to behold with all the wedding presents largely rammed between the seats and the rear bulkhead.
A personal one, just before I started dating Mrs O, was Donington Park 2002 for the British motorcycle GP. For those who don't know, 2002 was the first year of the return of four-stroke engines after a gap of (I think) 25 years. Since about 1977, motorcycle GP's had been dominated by two-stroke 500cc engines but in 2002 the manufacturers had the green light for 990cc four stroke engines of any configuration they fancied.
As such, on the grid at Donny in 2002 we had:-
Honda : V5 engine
Ducati : V4 "fourpulse" engine (four cylinders firing independently)
Suzuki : V4 (firing as two V-twins)
Aprilia : In-line triple
Yamaha : In-line 4
Kawasaki : In-line 4
The noise was ear-splitting and sensational in equal measures, with each bike having its own characteristic sound. The Aprilia was the best.
One more:-
The first time Mrs O & I went to Vasiliki in Greece was 2004, and she bought a bookmark with a jaw-dropping photo of the lighthouse at the headland at the bottom of the island. In 2015, on our 7th visit to Vass, we found the exact location where that photo was taken and - of course - replicated it:-

How on earth can football be the best day of someones life!
This, how sad that so many people's best day ever is something as meaningless and pointless as football, is that really the best that you can do? How depressing. Not even like it's their achievement, I've watched people do incredible and inspiring things (football is neither of these) but that is their best day and not mine.Berkshire bred said:

Even if they were at the back, their side won
Birth of my children wasn’t the best day because it was to stressful (and my part in it was some time previous!) but it is one of the best parts of my life.
Getting a new job. I'd been stuck in soul destroying NHS management job, I had a new boss who was insane and I'd recently come off antidepressant medication so hadn't really felt much for a while. Got the call that a job I'd applied for on a whim, had interviewed for and found I wasn't qualified, really didn't expect to get, well they offered me it with training. it was closer to home (walking distance rather than 40 mile commute), £10k payrise (and the fuel savings!), in a job i was genuinely excited to be involved in.
For the first time in about 30 years I wanted to do that "footballer running with their arms out and leaning in as they turn" goal score type celebration. Awesome feeling!

Watching Leicester City lift the premiership trophy at the KP Stadium. It will live with me forever.
Like some others on here the best day of your life was watching some people you don’t know achieve something on which you had literally no involvement or impact? It made no difference to that event whether you were there or not, and that’s the best day of your life? Seriously?
Those guys undoubtedly trained hard for years to achieve a major sporting trophy - could well be the best day of their life - or not. But to watch someone else and play no part it in - that’s really the best day out of your own life....nothing else has matched it?
What about, some guys you have never met climbing Everest or a man you know vaguely completing a reallly hard PhD? That’s got to be up there surely?
Almost as bad as shaking the hand of someone who has achieved loads of stuff.....ooh best day of my life! Really?
I once had a pee in a club in LA next to a very famous actor - should I put this up here as best day of my life?
Are people here genuinely saying that their the best day of the whole of their existence on this planet to date has been either watching (not playing in) a sporting event and contributing nothing to the outcome or shaking the hand of someone who has achieved some sporting stuff. Or am I due a parrot?
They’ve done nothing themselves or been involved in a single event that matches up to watching some football or shaking a hand?

It’s not for me to judge but if you really get off at looking at actors cocks while they urinate (and it’s obviously stuck in your memory) then yes, you shouldIt made no difference to that event whether you were there or not, and that’s the best day of your life? Seriously?
