Quadrifoglio servicing
Discussion
I am contemplating buying a Giulia Quadrifoglio. I am however nervous of the poor reputation a number of Alfa dealers seem to have and I am concerned as to how they would look after the car. Can anyone recommend a good dealer in London/Surrey/the South East. Like a number of "specialist" cars the Quadrifoglio will require an expertise over and above more mainstream models and I wonder whether a knowledgeable specialist who sees a lot of these vehicles might be more appropriate. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Any dealer will need a Quadrifoglio trained tech to service a QF, which is nigh on a Ferrari spec qualification. A lot of dealers don't possess such a person as they get snapped up by Ferrari (spooky eh!) so if you find one then go for that. If you have a service pack then you will be tied to a dealer anyway unless you can get backing to use an Alfa / QF approved indy on the same scheme.
HWM Walton on Thames were Alfa dealers until recently and sold a few Quadrafolioliolioo's, if they still have the techies you could try there , They were good with my 4C, under EU law it can be serviced anywhere as long as its done to the manufacturers schedule. They are now using that part of the business to sell Sports cars of various brands so odds are they still have good techies
I use Ancaster in Dartford and have no complaints. Whenever my car has been in I've always spoken to the Quadrifoglio tech. Seems a good bloke and an Alfa fan. Been at the dealership a long time too.
To be honest though, until the 4th service it's just normal servicing type stuff (mainly just oil and filter changes and checks) so it's pretty simple stuff. 4th service you need new plugs and the auxiliary belt needs changing, which I believe is a big job (possibly engine out) so I wouldn't trust that to anyone.

I'm sure Desira in Bury St Edmunds are qualified to service QV's. I know they've sold a few. They're all very knowledgeable and seem to be quite passionate about the brand. I appreciate they're not exactly local to you but Suffolk's not so far away and so maybe it's a good excuse to go for a drive? Thanks for the advice Gents - plenty of food for thought.
Out of interest has anyone come across AHM (Alfacare) in Hampshire? They are an independent Alfa specialist offering upgrades in addition to regular servicing. I cannot help thinking that a decent "indie" which sees plenty of these cars will offer a better level of service than a franchised dealership which only deals with a few. I know there are warranty issues to consider but I do want to ensure my car is properly maintained. I'm looking at a nearly new Quadrifoglio (as opposed to new) and I am tempted by some of the upgrades that AHM offer. Any advice/comments gratefully received!

I had my last 2 services done at Alfa main dealers, but would give AHM a go next. I bought my car from Meridien Milano and they were excellent until Alfa UK pulled the rug on them and forced me to a Volvo dealer! Really unimpressed with the ‘new’ dealers, not really car people, let alone Alfa people.

Adie Hawkins has had a hand in many of the winning Alfas around on UK racetracks and knows his stuff. I wouldn't have thought you would have any problems. Neil Smith near Worcester is another one i would trust but too far from London. MegaCat said:

The one's down by the docks I presume, I have to agree with your comment too. Got promised the earth about servicing my 4C when the tech was 4C trained but never heard anything. Went back in and the guy I originally spoke to completely blanked my just a matter of weeks later.Andy-6ufnp said:

They could easily be the one’s - avoid like the plague, they managed to leave a 12” long pair of needle nosed pliers under my bonnet, fortunately it didn’t damage the bonnet but they needed to replace some of the rubber. The mechanic himself was a nice guy, but the entire place has zero interest in the cars or customers!Gassing Station | Alfa Romeo, Fiat & Lancia | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
