The lettering of the regs doesnt specifically prohibit use of wall switches in bathrooms, but there is a general requirement for suitability for environment. A decent sized, well ventilated room might not be an issue but given how many of the poxy little bathrooms we have in this country literally stream if you take a long steamy shower, there's a potential issue that old Mr "oh get me i can read a regs book" has failed to consider.Surprisingly (to me at least) you can have any switch you'd like unless very close to the bath or shower. How much condensation on a wall switch is safe until it tracks to the live bits inside and shocks the user? A consideration never more apt given some of the unbelievably cheap rubbish wiring accessories, that some oddly super impressed with themselves for procuring people, ask that I fit.
