Made that worse for you. This happened to a neighbour of my parents. Chain snapped, got snagged on the cog and whipped around causing lots of damage, wrecking the oil pump and all the casings. that's in addition to piston to valve contact, bending valves and ripping out valve guides, damaging cams and generally wrecking the internals.
