I loved it - especially because, like all the best humour, it had a certain core of truth to it. I am absolutely convinced that "Farther Ted" served a massive social purpose in Ireland.

Father Ted was a moment in time, a comedy so perfect few have ever come close, the actors will die off but it will be around forever,
An absolutely appalling programme. On a par, at the bottom, with Mrs Brown's Boys.

No accounting for taste, eh?
The same genre but Father Ted is miles ahead in quality.

Sitting in the caravan explaining the difference in perspective inbetween the plastic cow and the cow in the field. Hugely enjoyable!

When i was working for BT i had to go to a Catholic hostel in Greenford where the priests had rooms

The writers had it spot on. Everyone ( even Mrs Doyle) who appeared on Father Ted i had a doppleganger in the hostel.

I had to put a hankie in my mouth, esp when the housekeeper came in with a cup of tea for me!!

As For Mrs Brown, i would rather go and see Ant and Dec, and they make me want to push red hot needles into my scrotum to get some enjoyment. The two most awful shows i could sit through and win bets for not cracking my face

In a way you need to be an Irish Catholic brought up in the late ‘70s or even late 60’s like me to fully appreciate Father Ted. Priests then were a harsh dour lot in general, with a tiny exception who were like Ted.

Exactly. It rang true - in a left of field kind of way.

I live in county clare and drive past Pat Mustard’s patch about once a week.

I have been to the parochial house several times. It is incredibly popular attracting people who were not even born when this was filmed.

There are several Father Ted festivals throughout the year.

They are a great craic as they say here

I've been to the house, was loads of people there to see it. Also went to a pub called Vaughans, which was featured in the episode with the Chinese.

All I remember was the coachloads of Japanese father Ted fans all over the place.

It was a bit of a culture shock to see Mrs Doyle (well Pauline McLynn thankfully) flashing her boobs in Shameless! eek

Nothing official, but a fellow parent at the school where his child is at.

Why his tour was cancelled so suddenly.

Leukaemia for the second time, so the story goes. Allegedly.

Sorry, but no, she's a politician, so the decent thing to do would be drink the whisky and shoot Corbyn,

But she'll probably just do a bunk to the House of Lords
