Hah, that made my evening, I hadn't seen that before. RIP. (there was a sharks head in Shirley B90 but I think it got moved when the shop relocated)

There was indeed - think it was a diving shop. Both shop and shark now gone, I think.

Rex Garrod, the inventor and RC/robot builder. He co-presented The Secret Life of Machines, built Brum the car in the kids TV show, and entered Cassius into the early series of Robot Wars (the first robot in RW that could flip and right itself if it was turned over).

Aww, he was my next door neighbour when I was in my early teens. Lovely man, generous and patient and capable of some incandescent swearing when things went wrong. I spent a happy summer helping put a roof on his workshop, and helping build his Celica pickup.
