Are there any networks that do a e-sim pay as you go that doesnt have to be topped up every month providing its got credit on it?
Looks like Three do https://www.three.co.uk/Store/SIM/Pay_As_You_Go
We’ve been on 02 for as long as I can remember and this is the first time I know of any major outtage.
Yes it did affect my workforce but I’m not going to jump up and down on the internet to complain about it.
In fact, considering the scale of the problem, I think they did well to get it back on within 24 hours.

There was one lady on 02s twitter giving it billy big spuds about how O2 should compensate her for not being able to work....
...So I looked what she did: "Pinterest Social media marketing", I mean FFS not life or death stuff!
If you rely on anything for your business, you need to put in and test fallback options for when it fails. I know this because I help run a small business in a remote location and everything fails, power, water, internet, our building...You name it , it will go wrong, so you set aside time to manage it when it does, instead of whingeing about "How it shouldn't happen you should have compensshhaaation"
There has never been a time before when there are so many different telecoms options, so no excuses to cover yourself.

Woman interviewed in ITN last night.
"Yes you should be able to claim not just the 50p for the day's downtime but also consequential losses."
I can't remember but I'm guessing she's a lawyer
I saw that. She was billed as 'consumer expert' from memory. Clearly, she has no idea about mobile phone/SIM contracts."Yes you should be able to claim not just the 50p for the day's downtime but also consequential losses."

Just had an apology email and 2 days worth of line rental to be credited by the end of January.
Quite enjoyed the peace yesterday, they should donate some money to charity instead
A friend of mine on O2 received this same message.Quite enjoyed the peace yesterday, they should donate some money to charity instead
She pays £21 a month which works out 70p a day. Am I correct in thinking she will be credited £1.40?

You are correct, it isn't. You can plan for some eventualities though. As I said above, a spare SIM on a completely different network. Doesn't work if the whole infrastructure fails, but if one network goes down you can continue.
As for service providers, I would never trust them to have a backup. I've seen many systems that are supposed to be backed up fail as soon as they are required.
I seem to remember the big outage British Airways had a few years back was when they had a data centre power cut and the backup generators failed. As for service providers, I would never trust them to have a backup. I've seen many systems that are supposed to be backed up fail as soon as they are required.
I did some work with Telehouse in Docklands many years ago and they famously had redundancy all over the place, but I seem to remember they had an outage or two as well.
A heavy goods trucker crashed (mistake, not malicious) his vehicle into an electricity pole that then toppled onto the nearby transformer and killed it. The Rackspace DFW datacentre served by the nearby power lines, switched to power backup but the aircon was crippled as the utility repairers went about the repair and also to allow the ambulance crew to recover the injured driver. The constant cycling of power killed the aircon, everything overheated, couple of thousand boxes went zzzz and a few hundred businesses learnt what online retail sometimes entails...
I got to spend time with the lead project guy for a new Rackspace DC just after this time. Most detail went over my head and I was only looking for the salient stuff, but through normal challenge and q&a you could see they’d learnt an awful lot from that episode. Rackspace, certainly pre-IPO, were a nimble, tight outfit from my memory. Threw a good company BBQ that they invited myself and a girlfriend too.

That’s that then.
Number switched over to Vodafone this morning. Been with o2 since the iPhone was launched.
£20 for 20gb.
Gonna wait until esim is available on payg and then get one as a back up line on my iPhone XS. Belt and braces I suppose.
You know that half of the Vodafone base site network is run by O2, right?Number switched over to Vodafone this morning. Been with o2 since the iPhone was launched.

Not this time but they've had similar issues in the past. What are you trying to achieve by changing?
Not giving o2 any more money.Hopefully once I can get an EE esim that should cover me for 99% of eventualities
o2 also has issues with their 4g mast in Covent Garden which causes me problems so hopefully I won’t have this problem now.
Slight knee jerk reaction maybe but hey ho.... fk em.
