Is it so hard to deliver a parcel properly?
Discussion
i have equally silly customers, i had one who came walking down the street after me and honestly stated ' we saw you writing a 'sorry we missed you'card from our window why didnt you leave the parcel on the doorstep? ummm why didnt you tap on the window or come to the door when i knocked?
To get some perspective and some facts can people in the know tell us......
Are the drivers employees? zero hour contracts etc?
How much delivery people get paid per parcel?
Is that the same for all firms?
Does the amount they get depend on weight, size, distance?
So is delivering a DVD paid differently to delivering a 4x5L engine oil?
How many do they have to do in a day?
What restrictions exist with drop off route planning etc?
Meal breaks?
Pensions?
Etc etc..

Yodel/hermes are paid per parcel, if its not delivered no pay. they get between 80p and £1 per parcel on a self employed basis but out of that they must hire a van get fuel and insurance from the company, normally 25 parcels per hour and 10 12 hour shifts 6 days a week no holiday or sick pay no pension.
dpd/ups/fed ex/dhl i believe are paid by hour but still have to deliver everything to get full wages but ive not worked for them so please correct if you know better.
Royal mail/parcelforce employed £11 an hour Don't have to delivery thing as can take back to office/post office for collection by customer do get pension.

, so what can we expect.
Hmmm... I'd have thought I could expect my parcel to not be thrown in someone else's bin.Similarly, if I order a beer in the pub, I don't expect to get someone else's glass of white wine, nor do I expect them to tip my drink down the sink once I've paid for it.
To be fair, 'DPD Central' have pretty quickly agreed with me - they can see from their GPS track that it was 'delivered' no where near my address

People aren't willing to pay much, if anything, for deliveries, so what can we expect.
A large parcel, covered in 'fragile' tape and stickers not to be lobbed over my side gate, destroying the contents. So basically I expect them to perform the task of delivering a parcel without breaking it, surely not too much to expect?

But like I said, people arent willing to pay much, if anything, for deliveries, so you get what you pay (or dont) for.

Sure, they don’t have to do it ... said nobody who was ever there, on the breadline and ignorant through education or propaganda of the game used to exploit them
I can’t believe how much the world has changed in the fifty years I’ve been around, none of it for social betterment. I have no ideas, and I am responsible. Given the opportunity, I’d probably be labelled a sociopath

Snap .This week i had a parcel for some woman who was in her downstairs office next to the front door .
Rung doorbell , knocked on door , had a look and seen she was in the office with headphones on so banged on the office window and she still didn't react .
What more can i do to get her attention ? you know she'll probably be on a forum somewhere moaning her postman chucked a card thru her door without knocking though.
