The drill hall where the local Air Cadets, amongst whom I numbered, met was in the next village to ours and we weren't welcome. The local lads there were Army Cadets and they made our lives difficult. It came to a head when we were challenged to a punch up. We had a gathering to work out our fight strategy. It emerged fairly quickly that we weren't street fighting chaps at all but the decider came from a lad who remained quiet until near the end when he piped up, "I've got a Sekiden gun." He was proposing to bring a pea shooter to a punch up. About as much use as a gingerbread knuckle duster. Someone, I forget who, alerted the officers of the forthcoming fracas, they alerted the Army Cadet officers and all boys were banned from fighting. A pea shooter. Idiot.

I walked to the shop.
Food was bought.
Shelves not empty.
ION......there's a road closure on the way there but some have been moving the cones and barriers as it obviously doesn't apply to them.
The authorities have reinforced the closure with those clamp together metal fences.
Move those dock heads !

Morning chaps, a somewhat later post than normal due to me waking up and finding my phone had died!!!
I'm not going through with the HUGE Lego purchase as the seller is asking too much, I've made a sensible offer but he's not coming down enough, in case you were wondering it's close to £1000.

A thousand quid? Has the world gone mad? You could buy a real Sopwith Camel for that sort of money.

Nice one. Would you please take the mantel of the Trivial Vigilate?

By the way were there shootahs involved?
No shootahs I'm afraid. He didn't even attempt to take a swing at me, which is fortunate because I am not a fighter by any stretch of the imagination smile

Outside of course. The neighbours to the left would have to drive left and the neighbours to the right would have to drive right. Easy. They'll see the sense in it. Offer them Associate Membership if they play up at all.

Unlikely. Had it been loaves and fishes then, yes, you'd have your man.

I remember every detail of this and even the spring ‘boing’ when the trigger is pulled. From 45 years ago...

Odd isn't it? He read what I wrote, interpreted it negatively, decided I was saying something else and attempted to lead the thread in a different direction.

Takes all sorts I suppose.

There are indeed some strange people out there, it always makes me laugh when, even after being proved wrong, some people will continue to defend their stance/view/position, it's almost as if to admit they were wrong in the first place is unthinkable!!!

Never underestimate the wonders of Velcro.
I once met the man who invented Velco. (True). He was an interesting and together guy.

My dad met him, too. They used a lot of Velcro in his racket*. Apparently, he - Mr Velcro - said the hardest thing was convincing people Velcro wasn't sticky.
