Dicky, "Who are you?"
Sinister Voice, "I am the new Number 2."
Dicky, "Who is Number 1?"
Sinister Voice, "YOU, are the Responsible Adult for the Day."
Dicky, "What do you want?"
Sinister Voice, "Calm, Order, Reason and Tolerance."
Dicky, "You won't get it!"
Sinister Voice, "By hook or by crook we're optimistic."

The new Number 2 said they'd settle for us playing nicely. I said we always do and he gave me that look.

Are we talking about that look or THAT look?? There is a world of difference and look what happened the last time we made that mistake, it caused the locals to get angry and organise a protest group. They had pitchforks and banners. Banners i tell you, we know we are in trouble when banners come out.

nono that wasn't us...okay it wasn't all of us....okay it was us but they had banners!! and placards!!!
What were we supposed to do? All because we made a mistake between that look and THAT look.

it was only a tiny little mistake and they got all un necessary, Battert needed a strong cup of tea after that one

Battert had strong tea? Which day was that? Was it the day that coach load of foreign tourists disappeared somewhere between Lunch in the Great Hall and Tea in the Cricket Pavilion?

Still, the endless pilgrimages of relatives looking for answers add considerably to the local economy.

True, and let's be honest here, the roses do bloom well since they "disappeared"!!

ION I have to leave early today to take delivery of and install a washing machine for MIL, she has a dishwasher which rarely gets used, some time ago I suggested switching it for a washing machine to make life a bit simpler, she has a cleaner who does her washing but she's going through issues of her own, we've had a few calls over the last month saying that MIL's washing isn't getting done regularly so we've taken the decision to swap the machines over, so I'm off there to sort it today!!

Stuck.

Stuck.

Panicking.

Stuck panicking.

Phew. That was close.

I forgot to take my glasses off when I pulled my shirt on.

Yes, all right, it's 9.25. I'm a bit behind today. It's allowed.

As today's Responsible Adult, it's important that Dicky maintains optimum vision at all times, so that even with his shirt jammed over his glasses, he can focus on the problem and swiftly evaluate the situation and see the solution.
He still has my full confidence.

By the way, top flailing there, Dicky! thumbup

And yes, I well remember that day.
What could have turned into an ugly situation was luckily no more than a complete débacle.

And Battert's quick thinking and use of the Fordson to construct the new ancient burial mound was a brilliant way of covering up what happened.

I'm glad we all agreed not to mention it again. whistle
Pint of Absinthe, anyone? drink

There are other things to worry about, Bobbers. What if the hole that we think the coach load of foreign tourists fell into turns out not to be ancient chalk workings but missile silos being built by Battert during his 'I needs to be a doin summat' phase.
