A lazy student starts to write three novels at once. The characters start to argue with him, saying he shouldn't be able to control their destinies. Then they, the fictional characters, start to meet each other. Then one of them starts to write a novel. I think that's it. That was where I gave up. Around page 5.

That book sounds like hard work, I'm a big Stephen King fan but there's a book of his I really struggled with called Rose Madder, I found out later that he was as high as a kite when he wrote it, which would explain a lot!!!

IMO King is a poor writer (very relatively speaking, if that makes any sense!) possessing an amazingly creative imagination.

I used to think he was amazing until I started to read Dean Koontz and realised as you say his writing can be quite poor, one of the best writers I read at the moment is John Connolly, his Charlie Parker books are very hard to put down!!!

I picked up a plastic bag that was litter.

Steven King isn't that bad a writer, if you want an illustration of my point, see anything written by Matthew Reilly. He has somehow managed to capture an excitable puppy in literary form and whilst i don't mind it, it's sometimes painful to read knowing full well there will be no breather until you reach the end of the book, then like the excitable puppy, he goes to sleep.

Can't say as i have, currently going through the Jack Reacher series with the odd Scott Mariachi thrown in and several non fiction self help books

Think along the lines of The Inner Chimp Paradox and it's follow up and Mark Manson's The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F**k

If you like the Jack Reacher stuff try David Baldacchi's Amos Decker books and have a look at Robert Crais's Elvis Cole and Joe Pike books!!!

To be fair, once i know what this 'thing' they cut of chest wall is, then i can plan ahead and i have a lot of self help books of various types i have got to get back to reading properly and with the gym too, my time for reading fiction and being on here will decrease.

Previously I worked at a company that mainly supplied cable ties around the world,

We had one order of 5 million cable ties to a private home in Dubai... nuts

I assume 5 million don't take up too much room ,stuff them all into one medium size box ?

You realise that when Pericoloso said 43 cable ties he meant 43,000,000 cable ties, of course?

It was quite a big bag he found.

Wondering why I smell solvent all the time when there isn't any around, I find I have phantosmia.

I thought Phantosmia was Morticia's sister who visits occasionally.
