I'm in the hangar having a proper look at Grandbomma's scooter, there's a bit of a problem with the brake on the back wheel. Shouldn't take too much longer, hopefully.

I did pop out this afternoon to buy some milk and tea bags and came home with a Honda Fireblade.

Please don't tell me I'm a loony, I'm aware of that. Dr Gleadle has it all down on record
Um, excuse me??? yikes
You bought a what?!?!?
It's one like this, old chap.

I can't really ride it very fast, I'm certainly no Carl Fogarty. It does get a good shift on though.

Gleadle wants to see me in the morning, by the way. He wants to refer me to the Upper Trivton Psychiatric Unit.

I've just been having a look at that picture and trying to visualise where Bomma is going to fit all the ordnance: you know, Gatling cannon, missiles, rocket launcher pods, target acquisition and ranging equipment modules etc.
I have a disturbing mental image of Bomma on his 'Blade, head down & arse up, grinning wildly behind his visor ( with the head-up display, natch ) as he lets loose a salvo or two at an obstruction somewhere ahead on the Trivton bypass. Awesome.

By the way, what on Earth has happened to the old Chesterfield in the Residents' Lounge?
It looks like somebody has stripped it of most of its' leather. There's an awful lot of horsehair showing. I've had to nick the Major's spot in the big studded club wingback.
I have thought about a few modifications old chap, the best I can come up with involves the addition of another wheel and a couple of wings:

Wouldn't fit on the driveway though, I'd have little idea how to fly the bugger either. I could certainly get the old girl started, I'd be shafted after that.

Fastest i've ever been was on the back of a Yamaha FZR1000 EXUP, 160mph, fk me it was scary!!!!
I got a new personal best top speed last week.
My kids bought me one of those supercar driving experiences, I got to drive a DB9 convertible, a Gallardo spyder and a Nissan GTR. Before I got there I expected the Aston to be my favourite but I was wrong, it was very much out of its depth on the track, the Gallardo was good if a bit snappy (it really didnt like the change between concrete and tarmac) but the surprise was just how good the Nissan was, the engine is a peach, pulls like a train and the handling was excellent, really didnt feel like the big heavy car it is.
After I had done all my laps they take you out for a fast passenger lap, the car we got was a Vauxhall VXR8. Bugger me but it was quick, the first time I looked at the speedo I thought it was in KPH, thought 150 kph was pretty brisk through the left hand bend onto the track, then realised it was actually in mph!. Then down the back straight he was doing between 160 and 170 in a 4 door saloon whilst chatting to us!
The vxr is definitely on the very short list of Vauxhalls I want to own

I wouldn't really like to guess the fastest I've ever been, I had my eyes firmly closed at the time. The pilot was utterly insane, a stark staring lunatic. Bloody good at what he did, though. He did let me know he was going to light the afterburners before I curled up into a semi comatose state.

160mph on a motorcycle would, I imagine, be quite terrifying. I've had the Honda up to about 55, I think it took about a second and a half to get there. It seemed like it, anyhow.

It's a lot more comforting to be shut inside a perspex bubble. Especially when the fella in front knows what he's doing.

Life? Well everybody knows that's 42!!
Bomma's mid life crisis bike??? Fun!!
How fast we've been? Usually it's because there's a sudden, inexplicable disconnect between self preservation and thrill seeking!!

Sounds like you had a great time GOG!! A lot of people say that the Astons are out of their depth on a circuit, but I'm not surprised about the GTR, that's pretty much what it was designed for!! The VXR8 was a surprise though, but then it is basically a Holden Commodore and they're campaigned extensively in Australian V8 supercars!!! Ok, so they bear little resemblance to the road going version, but I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could find something they actually share!!! smile

I went in a rocket ship once with my Mum, when I was about four and a half.
It went really fast and made me a bit dizzy. The G-force.I experienced was amazing.
NASA copied the idea and used it during their astronaut training programme.

I think it was in Great Yarmouth. "Funland", iirc.

Ah, there you are Sir glenrobbo of the TVR, not off gallivanting around the countryside today then? About this hamster infestation in the small hangar, what do you propose we do about it?? Even the fking pelican refuses to go in there now!!!! yikes
I suppose we could get Scrump to test the weaponry of his Type45 on it, I mean, do we actually use it for anything other than random slightly illegal pursuits storing stuff???

That is a weird thing they do or rather try to do on breakfast television. The presenters are an amiable acquaintance one minute talking inanities then an ex-Stasi interrogator the next moment when a politician appears. Trying to be both can't work. I don't think it works anyway. What do I know?

It was just an excuse really. It's so much grief to get the seed out of the bird feeder. It is sprouting and the birds wont eat it so Bobbers was quite welcome to have it. Too much nitrogen? Does he sound like a bloke with too much gas? Maybe I'll up the oats content in the next batch of special muesli when I've cleaned the stables.

I hope you have handed it in to Lost Property, someone is bound to be missing that.

I once lost my wallet whilst away for a long weekend with Mrs Scrump. She then had to pay for everything which meant it was turning into an even better weekend than expected.
Brought back down to earth though when I received a call from the local police saying my wallet had been handed in and I could collect it from the station if I took some id. My id was in the wallet which caused some hilarity rolleyes at the desk. I would have thought they knew who I was by now after all the times those nice police have stopped me to say how fast my car is cool
