Plate transfer from the 850 to 1275 S...?
Exactly this. Had a mate who did it. Rebuilt his Mini, ran it for a bit, sold it, chuffed with the profit but nonplussed the buyer just wanted the registration for his Cooper or Cooper S (I forget which). 141 BAM. Just looked and it's no longer with us or possibly on retention.

The MkI is worth big money. The MkII not as much.
I'm not helping am I?
Yes, as it’s a bit less than a Vixen and about half the cost of an MGA which itself is half the cost of an XK120 and a tenth of the cost of a C Type. I'm not helping am I?
Although as I’ve been known to say its not about the money it’s about the value

Igg zackly. No, hang on, surely it's more about having the car you want regardless of the financial implications.
I tried to convince a conceited chump of a mate that what he really needed to be seen in was a Nash Metropolitan. He bought an Interceptor.
This has nothing to do with the main thrust of my argument, I just like the story.

Ah, good morrow your Dickyness!!!
When I started to seriously think about my retirement around 15 years ago I was already paying into a pension and had opted out of SERPS, when I joined wemakeplanebits.com it was a final salary pension which I put 5% into and the company were averaging 12%, since then I've stopped my private pension, SERPS is no more, my company pension has stopped accepting new applicants, the retirement age has gone up to over 67 for me and will likely go up again and the company pension for new employees is now this workplace scheme, albeit with the company putting 8% in!!!

In six weeks I'll be sixty five. My State Pension commences in September. That can only get worse for you young 'uns. I've paid in since I was seventeen. Cradle to Grave they promised. I bet they don't say that any more.
You young 'uns. .. For many years I paid into an AVC scheme, increasing my additional voluntary contributions each year to the maximum allowable.
It was a chunk of my salary that I could ill afford whilst raising a young family, but it seemed the prudent thing to do for a secure future.
When the pension provider, Equitable Life, suddenly went bust it was a bitter pill to swallow.
Instead of a secure future pension, I ended up being paid a small one-off lump sum which represented a fraction of the total amount that I had struggled to pay in for all those years.
bds!
Now I have been retired for coming up to 8 years, living on the basic state pension plus the ( not massive ) company pension, which, topped up with a small pot of savings, is enough to keep me going.
I have calculated that if I am careful, I have enough money to live until a week next Tuesday.
But, I am grateful that I have my ( relatively) good health and three lively healthy grandchildren to make my life richer than ever before.

It's cold, I'm in a machine shop with a heater next to me and I'm still cold!!!!
Have you tried 5 minutes fast running on the spot, followed by 20 press-ups, 20 star-jumps, 20 sit-ups, 20 front flips, 20 alternating side-stretches, five minutes of full arm swings, 5 minutes in the stationery store cupboard with Dotty the tea lady, and a nice hot cuppa to finish? That should warm you up, and also relieve any stiffness you may be suffering...
HTH.
