How hard wearing are the soles?

The French Foreign Legion wear them. They are tough.

Google waterproof palladiums for ones like that.

Most are canvas. Waterproof ones use cordura and nubuck etc.

Red Wings look great until the sole discolours.

I prefer Thorogoods because the soles don't discolour so quickly.
