Nice !
I don’t think these are going to be that limited. I purchased two pairs just in case.
I really think Adidas could learn a thing or two from Nike about limited releases, those Run DMC superstar's do not look that special compared to Nike and there Crazy dunk and Jordan Collabs.I don’t think these are going to be that limited. I purchased two pairs just in case.
you could argue that the Yeezy have hype but to be fair that hype was already there from releases he did with Nike and just followed when he signed with Adidas.
If its quality then the prada colab a few months ago was pretty high up in terms of materials used also the consortium releases tend to be high quality. Whacky ideas, there are loads including star wars, pumps, micro pacers ...
I really hope Adidas do the opposite of Nike and continue to make trainers people want at a reasonable price with what seems appropriate stock available!
Some limited adidas are extremely hard to get hold of the zx bape that released last week for example.
There is also a massive sub culture with Adidas of the vintage trainers they are not hyped but there is a decent amount of people who really like OG vintage models and the re-releases Adidas create. The recent city series that size released prove that Adidas can produce quality trainers, create hype around them and sell out rapidly.
Just editing to say Ive read it back and it sounds a bit argumentative, it really isn't meant to be just waffling on

RUN DMC & the Adidas Superstar is a good example of an enduring legend and one that hasn't been diluted and milked to fk.

That is probably because they don't appeal to that many people, I would say that a plain white superstar with a graphic on the tounge isn't really worth a legendary status in my personal opinion when you compare it to the SB Dunks and the collabs and packaging and hype they build up. RUN DMC & the Adidas Superstar is a good example of an enduring legend and one that hasn't been diluted and milked to fk.
I also question the quality of Adidas as i am sure they are fine for general walking around in but i still occasionally ride BMX and from the experience of riding in shoes from the Adidas skateboarding range i find the soles and laces wear out so much faster than Nike SB dunks and Janoski's, within 3 months
of riding in Adidas i have a hole in the sole from the pins in the pedal which would take about 12 months to happen in a Nike shoe.

When I say "enduring legend" - I'm talking about the history, I'm not talking about the shoe design itself.

Sorry, but you've missed my point by some margin.

Enduring legend of RUN DMC or the superstar or of Adidas? i still think a Jordan 1 would have more of an enduring legend than a superstarWhen I say "enduring legend" - I'm talking about the history, I'm not talking about the shoe design itself.

As to your question, again, read my post and you'll see that by "enduring legend" I am referring to the history of RUN DMN and the Superstar.
Did I say it was the best example? No.
Also, if you'd take the time to read my post, you'll see that I qualified my point by saying "...that hasn't been diluted and milked to fk" - which precludes any Jordan, and I say that as a Jordan fan.
Edit: apologies for the harshness of response, but folk not reading posts then responding to stuff that I didn't say is something that makes me lose patience.

Well only time will tell the J1 has some catching up to do at present however for the last 5 years the Jordan brand has blown up undoubtedly however 10 years ago nike tn was huge it will be intersting to see if Nike manage to cement the Jordan brand for 50 years like the superstar. which sells 10Million plus pairs every year! wastedyouth86 said:

Do you know anything about Run DMC and the superstar? It would be crazy to do anything but a classic looking superstar! Why are you using hype as a measure of success, I like trainers and want to wear what I like if they are hype I am less likely to get them, at the end of the day I am into trainers as I want to buy/collect pairs for me, I get no satisfaction in trying to buy a pair and failing only for 200 teenagers to sell them on ebay for inflated prices the next day!
Not good that the skateboarding and BMX shoes fall apart though, have you contacted Adidas about it?

Sorry Hype was probably the wrong word i should of said exclusiveness, I like buying shoes that are rare and ltd release because I like that not everyoneWhy are you using hype as a measure of success, I like trainers and want to wear what I like if they are hype I am less likely to get them, at the end of the day I am into trainers as I want to buy/collect pairs for me, I get no satisfaction in trying to buy a pair and failing only for 200 teenagers to sell them on ebay for inflated prices the next day!

has a pair... to me the superstar RUN DMC looks nothing more exciting than a standard white superstar that i see being worn by mainly teenage girls in their faux fur parkas.
I'm not into sneakers but there's a great doco on the Beeb about Nike Air Jordans which is interesting even for me. It got kinda preachy towards then end about kids getting killed for their shoes but still interesting:

I like a trainer that has some history or if its a new trainer a reason why it has been created. Trainers can be rare and limited release and few people will ever have heard about them.

That's what appeals if they are limited but understated then only people who are into trainers or in this case run dmc will notice them, perfect scenario for me. The majority of Jordans are not rare in my eyes as there have been so many re-releases there are literally a handful that can be considered exclusive, I also find the obsession with basketball trainers odd in a country where it isn't really played! SB dunks is a different matter their recent rise BACK to popularity is a great thing in my eyes, I like the GR colourways and diamond colabs rather than the ice cream and rapper colabs.

Yeah i am more of a Dunk fan than a Jordan fan i only really have Jordan 4's and use them as Gym shoes. I myself and also more into the releases and collabs they do with skate brands rather than the rappers. It also appeals to me that they have tried to keep it core by not selling out the Dunk shoe by stocking them in JD Sports and footlocker and only letting them out to real skate shops. Dunks also mean the most to me as i have pretty much had them in constant rotation since i was 18 before they where even labeled with SB tags.I like a trainer that has some history or if its a new trainer a reason why it has been created.
