Hands up, mea culpa, I walked into that with my eyes wide open.
Just like David Soul.
Don’t mention him, I picked him up in Grays Inn Road once, he asked for “the top of Highgate Hill.”
I went up York Way, made my way to Archway, then turned left into Highgate Hill, as I went past Whittington Hospital, he said, “Why didn’t you take Dartmouth Park Hill?”
I said, “Because that comes out into The Bank, which leads to Highgate High St., and Highgate Village, if you’d asked for Highgate Village, I’d have taken Dartmouth Park Hill.”
He didn’t seem to be too impressed, I didn’t seem to be too bothered.

A very bland anecdote seems a trivial reason to be told not to mention David Soul.

Ignore them Frank

The closest some of these got to David Soul was listening to his song s performed by an imitator on one of the budget Top Of the Pops records such as this interpretation

Lol, in the morning when walking the dog I always see people at the bus stop queuing to get the morning bus to town for their jobs, I always think to myself "if I worked in town I'd walk there, sure it's a 45 minute walk but it I'd much rather walk than get the bus"; the bottom of town is a 2.5 mile walk from my house.

He's a lazy fker, even if he didn't like walking and preferred the bus, if you lost your bus pass, that is absolutely no excuse not to get to work; find an alternative way, it's only a bit of hardship for a few days until a replacement arrives.

Bit more to it then by the looks of things...

he did not make any effort after the initial call on the Saturday to inform his managers of an update and he was uncontactable.

I have considered that it was a coincidence that these events coincided with his holiday request that had been declined.

What's wrong with lit door bells. I wish ours was, it's a sod to find at dusk.
Us guys can never find the button.

Careful reading suggests,

- Had a history of poor attendance.
- Tried to book days off. Refused.
- "Loses" bus pass to create an excuse to not turn up.
- Goes away to Benidorm or whatever his original plan was. (Hence the "uncontactable" part.)
- Pulls compoface when rightly fired.

I would love to see him take that to tribunal and be laughed out the room.

What I don't understand is why don't the reporters, who clearly know he's lying, just so a teeny tiny bit of digging and find out the truth then they'll have a few more articles to come from one tale

I suspect it's because these reporters are tasked with writing/copying an article purely for clickbait purposes whihc therefore increases the number of clicks which in turn increases the advertising capability.

Found myself with some time to kill and started watching Benidorm from Season 1. (Council in itself, I know.)

The first episode captures the councilist on holiday perfectly; alcoholism, feral kids, sun lounger wars, fry ups, Fanta lemon, teenage pregnancy and a racist, chain smoking grandmother on a mobility scooter. Brilliant, I’ve laughed out loud a few times already.

I saw the stage show a while ago. Council in the extreme, but best night out I've had in a while. I bought a Solana t-shirt on the way out, but my wife has banned me from wearing it laugh
