Okay - seeing as this is the Council Thread - Can someone explain the requirements to receive such benefits (its something I know nothing about).

Child Benefit - Thats fair enough, I'm assuming its available to everyone / single or couple that has a child regardless of income?

But £1300 tax credit?! How does that work. For all the grafters out there on min. wage that are lucky enough to have a 39hr contract (not easy come by these days at the likes or Tesco / Asda.. most seem to be P/T 18hr Contracts) - They will be lucky to see £1400 BEFORE tax and Ni
No not true, not everyone qualifies. We don't. We have one child (5yr old), the wife is a lady of leisure and my salary is over the threshold (which I think is about £60k-ish) so we get exactly £0.

We could theoretically claim whatever family allowance is classed as now which would be about £80/MTH but I would have to have my tax code adjusted to recover this via HMRC as.we.arent entitled to it.

Heck if your smart you can easily bounce that about with 0% interest on credit cards for years.

I’ve been researching the airport lounges at my local airport.
We went in one earlier this year.
Ripped seats stained chairs, bare carpets.
Pasta with a skin on the top,
the usual food quality.

Were flying out of the other terminal soon and I looked on trip advisor at the visitor pics.

Needless to say we’re not going to go in one again and we’re putting the fifty quid towards a nice meal

Child benefit is withdrawn from £50k, and is zero from £60k

Irritatingly, you must pay it back via a self assessment return. So, one either considers it a paperwork intensive interest free loan. Or one could arrange salary sacrifice to avoid it.

You'll have to forgive my ignorance but are they singing "fk them all and the IRA?"
fk the pope and the IRA.
Thanks. So romantic.
Blame Nicola Sturgeon.

It's her idea to ban any sort of cultural singing at the football, but the unintended consequence is that the singing simply moves to 'differently appropriate' venues, such as weddings, funerals, christenings... hehe

Nope, council is being too lazy and/or stupid to make the effort to move the debt around to it at 0%.

The councilista is more likely to use a credit card for cash and then consider themselves victims of the evil debt industry when they realize the payments are only covering the interest and not bringing down the balance.

Yes, some of those are really pretty grotty, the one I went to at JFK recently was horrible.

I was faced with this situation on Sunday and instead of a lounge I got myself 6 hours hotel room use at quite a nice hotel and relaxed there prior to heading to the airport. Cost about £50.

talking of money: looked at a breakdown of income/expenditure for someone the other day

1300 mth tax credit

about 200 ish CB can't remember

outgoings of amusement- lets ignore sensible stuff

£550 on car loans
£215 on sky/cable/broadband god knows how
car ins £150 mth 2 cars
£110 mobile phones
then £100 in kids dance and acting lessons. fair play doing something with the kids

my point is, all this is funded from benefits.

Oh, I live a sheltered life it seems.

This was the Roehampton one, on the A3 to London. Haven't been for probably a year, but was not there then!

Isn’t there some sort of benefit so to speak from claiming and then repaying where your wife doesn’t work? Something to do with NI qualifying years or such like?

No one I work with is entitled to keep the money but everyone whose partners don’t work or work part time claim it and then pay it back.

It looks like she applies her make up with a trowel it is that thick and she has fake blonde hair and massive filler-ed lips as well as the claw shaped fake nails.

She has also work the same top all 3 days so far this week
I'm guessing you have a fairly relaxed dress code then...
