A bit council (Vol 4)

Agreed.
I'd say Mr Deltic has provided a good example of the attitude often found in Edinburgh, I haven't read anything as arrogant for a while.
Aw'right big man, hows it goin' by the way? I'd say Mr Deltic has provided a good example of the attitude often found in Edinburgh, I haven't read anything as arrogant for a while.
Glaswegians take cheap shots at Edinburgh all the time, but can't take any sort of criticism of their supposedly better city in return. Like Scousers and Cockneys. Professional underdogs.
I will say this about Glasgow:
-Glasgow has a much better shopping scene and experience. Princes Street is a joke of boring chain shops (mobile phones, birthday cards, tartan tat) and empty shops whereas Buchanan Street has international brands and local businesses.
- Glasgow has an impressive music scene, fostering numerous independent artists across many genres. Edinburgh has nothing beyond George Ezra clones in pubs and old folk musicians propping up the bar in the Royal Oak.
- Glasgow has far more music venues across a broader range of sizes, whereas Edinburgh goes straight from fleapit bar venues to Murrayfield.
- Glasgow has given the world far more artists and musicians, and artistic movements, than Edinburgh.
- Glasgow has a bigger number, and variety, of restaurants. Edinburgh has a lot of restaurants serving Balmoral Chicken to tourists, and more exciting restaurants tend to fail.
- Most of the tartan tat shops in Edinburgh are run by the Gold brothers, who are borderline crooked and openly flaunt employment regulations.
- You can't see Fife from Glasgow.
- The architecture in Glasgow is far more varied and interesting. Bits of it are like 1930s Manhattan and the entire Merchant City is fascinating.
- Glasgow Green is a much more pleasant example of urban green space than the Meadows, and green space provision seems to be slightly better generally in Glasgow.
- Glasgow has better concert halls for classical music.
- Edinburgh is increasingly run for profit by private enterprises such as Underbelly, leading to a cheap, tourist-centric Disneyfication effect.
- Edinburgh has a rich history of expensive, failed projects coming in late, short of the brief and horribly over budget.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Would you rather I drove home pissed or let my 12 year old drive? I always limit him to a couple of pints being a responsible dad.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51233861

He's not ventured into an Edinburgh scheme or industrial estate for a while. Holed up in his wee middle class bubble, without a clue.
I've heard of such places. Apparently they are where all the stolen motorbikes turn up? Why would I ever want to set foot in any of them? Sue me for having some aspirations and goals and wanting to live in comfort, frankly. 'Middle class bubble' is the language of envy, and rife for derision in a Council thread. Just stick "University of Life" as your 'Education' and be done with it.
Language of envy What an absolute trumpet of a guy.

It is a Spoons, so you're already well within council land.
Mind you the picture they used is the Liberty Bounds by the Tower of London, it is mostly visited by tourists and suits, not many feral kids running around. On Friday nights, young office workers, m. and f. would congregate there before getting their trains back to Essex from Fenchurch St. station.
They could be a tad obnoxious, getting wasted on what most guys spill down their ties.

You’re right about the young kids, but we used to meet another couple in there some nights, before having dinner in Brasserie Blanc next door in Trinity Square, sometimes going back in there for a couple before flagging a taxi down and going home.
Nice work old fruit. That'll launch 'em. It very nearly launched me and I'm a fan of your work. Frank7 said:

As someone that's neither from Glasgow or Edinburgh, but has spent loads of time in both - I actually think Edinburgh is worse. The amount of beggars in Edinburgh is crazy. Yes ok, Glasgow has a few outside of Central, but that's where they seem to be concentrated. Edinburgh is full of people on average wages that would like you to think they're a millionaire; council. Another thing that I observed, people in Glasgow are very friendly. Although it is pretty well known for having the 'Scots-welcoming-attitude.' Edinburgh is far more hostile. People seem to think they're too good to acknowledge anybody else.I'd say Mr Deltic has provided a good example of the attitude often found in Edinburgh, I haven't read anything as arrogant for a while.

For a £1 coin?
I’d try hard to retrieve a £2 coin, but I can’t imagine going so berserk for it.
Kind of biased on the whole Glasgow - Edinburgh debate,
Edinburgh is for tourists and tat, Glasgow is far friendlier and is for actually having fun.
Edinburgh is partially council, wheras Glasgow is about 80% council and some of that being to coin a new phrase for our thread "Sub Council"
Dont get me started on my home of Fife though............ its a queer mix of proclaimers, heroin and bitter ex miners
