Just looked at the animation again and that heavy band of rotating showers look like they are going to sail over Reading and drop their guts.

In East Berks we might get the tail end as they rotate around and as the low continues to move NE

All thee air seems to be getting sucked out of my house. And looking towards the greensand ridge it looks more like an October storm on the the llyn peninsula with waves of rain and wind

Was hoping all this rain would help with my hay fever but it’s absolutely horrific today, I ache with sneezing. frown We’ve had a few short sharp downpours when it absolutely threw it down, down here on the south coast today but it’s calmed down a bit now.

Someone was asking about Friday... Still no change to what was previously forecast. Slack pressure, a convergence zone down the centre of northern UK.

Looking forward, not brilliant news for staycationers and those in Northern France!

Looking forward stays the same - high pressure to the north of Atlantic, high pressure in central Atlantic = UK bullseye for lows.

I got caught out and forgot to bring a jacket on Monday, What a tit. It's still quite warm though, which is nice.

They're warning residents of Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire to get ready to evacuate, it's below Toddbrook Reservoir which has been badly damaged by the water overflowing it at such a rate it's torn the concrete dam wall up, they're pumping the water out of it now:

They are evacuating as the leak in the dam wall is getting bigger. My way home tonight crossed the Whaley road at Blaze Hill, major, MAJOR police presence by the old Highwayman, where I imagine they've now shut the road.

It is going to be a bit touch and go for those poor people below the dam today. A lot of rain forecast and additional areas evacuated.

I hope it all ends well and any rain swerves around them.

As for here in East Berks / Thames Valley, the sky looks quite ominous and rain is incoming. Little chance of thunder though according to the forecasts. It seems like the North and Scotland are getting all the action this year.

This will please colin...

This map shows the total rainfall over the next 10 days. As mentioned before, a real NW/SE split.

I'm off to France on Weds night - very patchy internet. Enjoy August eek
