As I pack the car and check the tyres I have only an inkling of good news to give you. The outlook is frankly dire, Greenland high - so often the desire in winter - is dominating weather and forcing low pressure on to the UK. Friday is looking disgusting for all, but generally the outlook is better for SE and worst for NW.

There may just be light starting to appear at the end of the tunnel, but nothing of note.

Sorry Colin - but from your point of view it cannot be the best ever summer, as the hottest ever temp was recorded. Discuss biggrin

This summer has blown. Tonnes of rain. Intermingled with muggy days, broken promises of mega storms, a couple of mega hot days that came and went. 3/10 from me.

Last summer was perfecto

Lovely cool May, June and half of July. I can set off the few days of extreme heat for the thunder we had and of course the record being broken. Just a fly in the ointment so to speak in the scheme of things.

And so far this August has delivered with lots of cloud, completely overcast as I type, and low temps but with afew heated moments. With more of the same for the foreseeable future, perfect. I especially hope Friday lives up to the hype!

Well the last 3 weeks have been particularly good. Low 20s during the day at worst, bit humid to work in but beats cold and wet any day! Hopefully the weather will pick up again after a wet spell. I'll be in the peak District for the 2nd half of the month so settled would be nice!

East Berks / Thames Valley, here. Last few days we have had short sharp very heavy showers. No thunder though.

Boardmasters in Cornwall just got cancelled due to expected severe weather this weekend.

I know a number of people booked to work the event so they have laid out for camping, guests houses, travel etc all for nothing.

There will be a number of very pissed off people if the bad weather doesn’t materialise.

Unseasonably deep low pressure system will hit - for sure. The effects may vary, of course.

What do you think Brands Hatch on Sunday will be like?

The bad weather will have cleared, but the next batch will be en-route. So a cool, mostly cloudy, day is most likely.

Err, you really do not want to be standing on the edge of cliffs overlooking Fistal beach on the North Cornish coast in strong winds.
The music pop up stages, tents, stands, huts, food stalls, everything would end up over the edge.
It's blowy up there on even the calmest of days elsewhere, its been cancelled for good reason.
