I'm in Normandy. Been 33c this afternoon and dry since last Friday when we got here. One minute bright sunshine, bit of a rumble then fk me all hell broke loose.

About 6pm I got caught on the bike in thunder, rain and hailstones like I've never seen before.

An experience and probably the cost of having such great weather the last 5 days. Proper local flooding etc. Wont forget for awhile and I think the kids will remember it forever.

Oooo, I know where that is and would love to go. Are you a member or did you go in one of the public / riff-raff sessions?

We bought some packages last time they had a crazy sale. Kids are with in-laws in Devon - time to adult!

What is the long range for September looking like?

Got a few weeks holiday left and wondering if I should just book it off if there is a chance of decent weather.

End of Meteorological summer today and Astronomical summer on the 23rd of September, nice.

Pug,

What is the criteria for the winter and snow thread?

IIRC traditionally it's opened at the first forecast of snow. Usually in the Cairngorms, and generally in October. But fill your boots. smile

First fallen snow visible on the Cairngorm webcam hehe

As for Sept. Dorian looks like it will spare Florida the worst and rebound off the eastern seaboard.

This could well bring warm weather for us as it passes by and drags up equatorial heat with it. Certainly not a forecast.

I wouldn't dare start a new summer / winter thread, not my place or privilege to do so.

But it was the first day of Autumn today and was stinking hot, nice evening chill coming in now though.

Yep - with the northerly aspect to the air flow, it's that difficult weather where you need layers in the morning, but then you'll be carrying them home wink
