Spotted a touch of frost on my dog walk this morning - brrrrr.

Potential for 26 degrees on Sat. Go out and enjoy it. We're planning a pub-crawl along the canal on our bikes beer

Which canal?
Kennet and Avon. We have 4 pubs across about 5 miles. All with great outdoor space.

It's nice along the Kennet and Avon, Cunning Man looks tempting everytime I go past!
Keep going past - looks good, it's really, really not all that. Always full of the wrong people from west Reading and they never clean up outside.

Fox and Hounds at Theale, Spring Inn at Sulhamstead, Butt at Aldermaston are all good. Rowbarge at Woolhampton is really good (currently impossible to get to as the shut the towpath all season!).

I spent my A-Levels in the Fox and Hounds instead of doing anything productive with my life. All of those are great pubs, the Spring Inn is one of my all time favourites. Lovely be it summer or winter.
Spring is the nearest to us - but such a dangerous walk along lanes frown F+H is easier to get to, during the dry season!

We can get bus to CM - but it's such a crap pub in a great location.

I am sniffing a chance of a (technically correct) start of the winter thread in a couple of weeks.

None of those pubs are on the water though, Puggers. That's what I'm bemoaning.
Ahhh- true really. Apart from the Rowbarge! That fits the big green garden down to the river critera.

Storm risk for Sunday as the warm air gets pushed away... Will update on that.

Could be quite a cold blast coming up, but it's not nailed on. Far too early for widespread snow - but could be enough to open THE thread smile

Good building blocks beginning to appear for a colder than normal winter. Certainly not a forecast, just some things are beginning to fall in to place. Northern Scandinavia and western Russia are colder than normal. Signs of blocking...

Stop the press. It's sunny in Geordieland... wink

Next week sees a pretty potent northerly - in fact, if this forecast holds, the winter thread is go... https://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/Cairngorm/...

Then Lorenzo barrels through. Yet more tropical warmth, and tropical rain.

Direct hit on Ireland, at tropical storm strength.

Rain will be worse than wind for the Irish, I suspect. They're used to that strength of wind!

Latest forecast nudges it north of NI, but still TS strength.

Definition of a tropical storm is sustained winds of 39-73 mph. Ie gusts are faster.

With fully laden trees that would be trouble.
