Looking at the rain radar and blitzorg, there are some quite lumpy areas of rain in Northern France with a few lightning strikes in them which might make their way over here later.

Fingers crossed for a light show and lots of noise!
Diazepam at the ready! (for the dog...)

I said after the stunning Easter weekend that we'd be paying for it for the rest of summer. Stick with that outlook and you won't be disappointed.

Some considerable rainfall totals this week. Flooding could become a concern.

For those of you nearby in west berks. Looks like a nasty system might be bubbling up west of Winchester.

Heard a distant rumble of thunder about an hour ago in Camberley. Was hoping for more.
Storm systems bubbled up really nicely, but didn't last long - very few in the M4 corridor got going. Some bigger ones in the M5 area.

East Berks, no thunder but a heavy shower with what looks like another one due shortly.

Pug,

Tomorrow looks a bit wet for us in the South and then Tues to Thur for the North. Met office warnings and everything with some mention of thundery showers in the South after Mondays forecast deluge.

This summer so far has been perfect!
Yesterday's Countryfile forecast painted the picture very well. Blocking high pressure systems (including a fabled Greenland High) are locking an area of low pressure pretty much over the UK all week. As you say, the worst (in terms of prolonged rain) soon leaves the South, but a slack wind from Channel will bring the risk of heavy storms for us.

I think Berkshire's about to get a long period of heavy rain... No thunder currently.

A couple of short showers, one heavyish, otherwise a little dull. Nothing like the rain forcast.
Keep in mind that the rain forecast was from 3pm-11pm, in the form of heavy local showers. Perfectly possible to escape without seeing much.

I've got the wood burner going....in the middle of June FFS.
Friend of mine has just landed at Gatwick from abroad (she's foreign). Complained it was only 10 degrees and only has summery clothes.

Looking forward to seeing what she's wearing later rofl

Explanation is simple. We're surrounded by high pressure including a rare Greenland high. Low pressure has no where to go and is stuck on us.

Hopeful signs for later in June...

Some improvements on the horizon, but that's inevitable when you're at rock bottom.

Can't see summer heat at this point, but the south might improve a little. Lot's of Atlantic weather to come is the most likely future.

Had blue sky in London at 8am this morning - quite a shock.

Grey has returned.

The relentless rain backs away from now, but sharp showers remain a possibility.

No indication at this point where things are going. Good chance of more lows and rain, no clear route to high pressure.

A little bit of good news, warming up towards Wednesday. 25 possible in the SE by then.

Then low pressure likely to reappear. Thunder possible then too.

On an East / West axis, I'm bang in the middle of that yellow area.

Fingers crossed that the best summer ever gets even better with a decent light show and a bit of noise.
Most likely only Essex and maybe a little of East Sussex will get the big stuff. Berkshire may end up with a passing display.

I'm hoping the increased heat and mugginess will mean later storms crossing the channel have a better chance of survival...

That big lump is certainly Berkshire bound, but as before - no fireworks.

I suspect the most thunder activity will be overnight <yawn>
