Wasn’t expecting rain. Had left all manner of blankets, towels, kids play mats etc in the garden overnight......

Yes, just seen Red Arrows have cancelled their display. Lovely weather here, unforecast sun!

A rather lovely weekend of weather for us near Reading, no rain and quite a lot warmer than the BBC app forecast. All weekend spent outdoors in the garden!

9 hours smoked pulled pork:

As for this week? It starts with a bit of nothing - neither high or low pressure asserting control. Although northern and western parts more likely to be affected by low, southern and eastern by high.

As we move towards the weekend, high pressure more in control - and temps start to rise again, but nothing significant.

Forgot to mention, risk of thunder increases towards end of week!

I know this is a long shot, but what are the trends for weekend 20/21st? I'm off to Wales, and beginning to think that Gore-Tex might be required.

There's a reason those valleys are so green hehe (and I say this as someone who is half Welsh!).

In all seriousness, we can see high pressure arriving for this weekend but there are no clear signals for the far future.

A murky sky here (East Berks), which I actually like, perfect temp as well.

Last night, quite late the heavens opened and it lashed down for about twenty minutes which my grass was thankful of. I checked the rain and lightning radars expecting some action. But alas it was a single blob of rain, the only one in the UK mainland from what I could see, and no thunder. Boo-hoo.

Hope the likelihood of some thunder later in the week doesn't turn out to be fake news. Really fancy a hum dinger of a thunder storm or two or three. In fact just one would do nicely.

Really just fed up of the humidity now. Heat is ok when abroad but the sweat just doing anything is so annoying.

MetOffice have already released a weather warning for Thursday (northern England and Scotland) - so seems very likely.

Gutted, a lack of thunder seems to be the price we pay for living in the hottest and most tornado prone part of the UK frown

[edit] Net weather gives Maidenhead a 52% chance of funder on Thurs between 7 and 10 pm. There is hope.

Tonight's charts are showing a good chance of a strong high building centered over the UK - hopeful sign therefore that it could remain until your trip to Wales.

Agreed. I’ve just bought a new boat so am taking an interest in 21st as that’s when I get it. Money’s on sunny / cloudy and a gentle breeze at the mo

I know its a common trend rain in wales however we haven't seen any rain for at least 2 weeks and the mountain over looking my area is starting to turn brown in places not as bad as this time last year but won't be to far of if the dry weather remains. South east wales seems to have missed majority of the heavy rain this year.

Here in Snowdonia it has been pretty good for two weeks. My boys and I go up to Crafnant Lake (5 mins drive) every Friday evening and cook on our little stove. I have a cold beer, youngest cooks and we all have a splash about! To me it looks like whatever was promised may well blow over or we may have a few showers to clear the air.
Hopefully same again this Friday?

That looks great fun for the kids. Good on you for doing this!
