An image which shows how marginal the heat will be on Thurs - cooler air already across most of the UK. Some of us will sleep, some won't wink

This isn't a post to make excuses for lack of heat - that's coming.... Also shows the even warmer air to the SE of Kent, and yes - that's a 38 in London.

20 degrees difference London to Cornwall is insane.

It is too hot already today in the Sarf and I don't think it is even here yet.

Whatever happened to those good old fashioned African / Spanish plumes where the highest drama was a bit of dusty rain? These days they try and burn you to death.

I had 28c on the car just now.

The humidity is horrible, really hope the models are wrong, it shifts East and kicks off tomorrow night.

Latest charts are on the same longitude, but pushing further north towards Scottish border.

I'm on daddy day car duties this week so taken the kids camping in peak district. It's about 26, thankfully there is a nice breeze. Going on an hike tomorrow. Plenty of suncream and water.

Friday was supposed to see cooler air push the heat away. Not so sure now.

Generally small upgrades on the heat for Thurs - potentially more widespread across the more inland parts of England (ie Midlands)

30c in East Anglia today which is the same as it was a couple of weeks ago. It was nice then but the humidity is making it horrible. It feels like the hottest its ever been in the UK.
