The official summer sun, BBQ and thunder thread 2019
Discussion
Currently enjoying a decent thunderstorm here, including 10 minutes of hail.
Not as good as the 40 damn minutes of it two weeks ago In the mountains....we'd found some barely acceptable cover that preventing it from hurting, but didn't keep us dry - kept expecting it to end and got soaked as a result, before we gave up at 20 minutes and sought better cover.

So my iPhone says 37 in the capital tomorrow...
...nice knowing you London!
Some models still showing 38, although there was a tiny amount of watering down overnight generally....nice knowing you London!
July record likely to fall, 25% chance all time record will go.

What do commuters do? Not sure I could face being crammed in a sweaty underground.
The main line trains have air con (in to Paddington and Waterloo anyway) - so I plan my journey carefully to try and avoid the underground. If I must, I'll use the cut/shut lines (Hammersmith/Circle/District) and totally avoid the deep lines (victora/northern/picadilly/bakerloo/central). Circle Line actually has some form of aircon now. As Puggit says most mainline stuff has aircon with SWR and Thamelink being the leaders in this.Seasoned commuters avoid the tube at all costs, rain, sun, wind, snow its always st down there especially at peak
I commute into whichever mainline station is closest to my role at the time and then walk or pedal. 30 min walking in this heat is still more pleasurable than the tube and by the time you've gone down, onto train, back up you can often cover a similar distance.

Arpege short range model joins UKV in predicting 39 for Thurs... Kent is the sweet spot, Colin will be pleased to know.
PffftThis is what I've got to deal with, just got home and took a snap. I know it is not calibrated or in an official Stephensons Screen etc but still...
