I remember my first day in college (day release, doing City and Guilds 236 Part 1 Electrical Installation). There was a lad who seemed a few years older, well known to the lecturers, and clearly regarded by them as the class clown. We found out later he was some divvy from the packing line at Swizzel's, and he was trying to get his electrical qualifications so he could get a job in the maintenance department. They must have had infinite patience at Swizzel's, as he was on something like his second or third attempt at the course.

In the afternoon, when we moved from the workshop to the classroom, he was sat on the back row. I kept hearing a sniffing noise, and when I looked around, he was sniffing Tipp-Ex.

If I had a sixteen year old daughter, I would rather be mainlining heroin if that's whatever they put in the sweets at Swizzel's does that to you!
