Gaggia Classic coffee machine. They are 300 new.

Mines not been used for 2 years and I've stated needs a service spares or repair £30. I've put four pictures up.

I'm being asked for a serial number. What?!
I'm being asked for MORE pictures.
I'm being asked if it works. It powers up but doesn't run.....

What do they want for £30?

It's not away from the tip.

I'll be honest I've given up on the coffee machine. I've changed it to free, partly out of masochism. If it doesn't go by this weekend I'll tip it.

I listed it on the coffee forum but all I'm getting is cyclic questions. If I can save a journey in the car - someone can have it for free. The ad clearly says spares or repair/doesn't work but I'll no doubt get a question clarifying doesn't it not work work?

Let's see.

4 16" bmw alloys with 4 decent branded runflats £90.

Message lowest price?

I said this is my best price.

So he asks for my postcode to work out how far I am.

I said here it is but I finish at 9 tonight and really don't want to be getting them out of the shed and carrying them through the house so I'd prefer some warning if your coming and prefe r a different day.

Guess what there was a car on road just after 9 last night engine running and window open slowly driving up and down then after I'd got out and locked up I heard someone through the open window but I ignored it.

Did I check my messages? He'd read but not replied. Nothing.

Checked your shed this morning yet?
Where I first saw the car hovering there's three cheap energy drink cans nestling in the kerbside this morning.

Jamal:

Is this still available?

?
??
Jamal has left the topic

I'm selling a few GShocks and without fail I'm getting this or similar.

One even left a 'review' saying lack of communication.

On Friday I was broken down at the side of the road and a potential buyer for a kids bike said can I come tonight. I explained no..

He then said OK tomorrow am.

I didn't reply as I was preoccupied trying to figure out and jump start my bike.

Two hours later he said 'I hate time wasters like you'.

Didn't give me a chance. From asking the auto question to leaving was under an hour. By the time I logged on he was gone.

Sometimes facebook marketplace comes up with the goods.
Was looking a classic mini and after a solid 9 months of semi looking and seeing a lot of decent minis but not the one.
Missed out on a good un that I looked at on the Friday in a dealer that was sold on the Monday when I had the cash to buy it.
Monday night feeling deflated a post on marketplace jumped out that I had skipped past originaly.
Went to look at it and turned out to be better than the one I missed for the same asking price.

All of FBs algorithms for deciding when and in what order to display things are poor, IMO, not just in the marketplace.
During Covid mine had will writing and funeral planning galore.

I thought it was incredibly poor taste.

Recently I've found that those with a profile pic of their presumably wedding day ask bizarre simple questions then vanish. 5 so far.

My golden rule is don’t change your plans to accommodate people

I sell 90% of stuff by leaving it in my porch (admittedly I don’t give the address to people I’m not happy to do so, I also have a couple of cameras which might make people think twice pulling a fast one)

I reckon I’ve shifted over 100 things this way, not a single negative experience yet

Personally I think people like the time alone to study the item without the seller hanging about
What are you doing whilst watching them?

I've listed many things collect only. High end bike parts.

Person says if you'll post I'll buy.

OK.

They expect the price I advertised for to include post (quite alot insured) AND me to include PayPal fees in that too.

Everytime.

It always ends in err right I won't take it then..

I've not had one person to come and view my car despite loads of people making offers. Why not view, then make an offer? Or, wanting to view one guy was even on his way and never turned up!
I had one guy asking me multiple questions for two weeks on my motorbike, plenty of images sent. He viewed it. Yep will collect. On the morning of him due to collecting he sent me a message saying 5k is a lot of money and he'd need to sleep on it. He drove a fking T5 transporter for crying out loud. How tight was his money?

Anyway I replied straight back saying don't worry I'll keep it and keep selling it.

Lesson learnt, no deposit = happy shopper.

I think FB is great ir awful depending what you are selling.

Victorian fire surround? Stack of slate tiles? Calligraphy pens. No problem - they’re not things chavs want.

Off road motorcycle - well any motorcycle? Audi? Mobile phone? You’re fked. Proper fked. And it’s not just on FB.

I’ve currently got two motorbikes to sell - one an enduro bike and the other a 1000cc sports bike. I’m currently stuck in a sort of paralysis as to what to do and how to sell them and where. I’m genuinely bricking it about the enduro bike - these things attract the wrong type worse than just about any other item you can sell, I reckon, and I’m simply asking for a stolen transit van full of feral rat boys to arrive at 2am and rob my garage for it.
I replied to your last post webuyanybike.com
Ive never used them, just curious if they operate like the car version.
I remember they offered me almost 50% of what a dealer offered me...

Personally I think you are being over paranoid.

Screen potential buyers out, you tend to get a feel quite quickly who is middle aged and is fairly educated.

I tend to only give out my postcode not my house number. If in doubt I say sorry its sold.

A few texts/messages and a call first - if they know the model or have obviously researched the year and model then it's a kosher buyer.

If its is it still for sale? Yeah pal I've just passed my test need a bike. Or we can collect tonight cash pal.

Sorry its sold.

Personally half the trade buyers are far worse timewasters.

Input all the details, give you a awful price then they try to chip you on pick up.

I sold my KTM to what I thought was a private buyer, he came from the lakes to collect, some 100miles each way. He turned up then said 'it's largely as described can we talk about the price'.

I'd already set my stall out on the price firmly and it was priced very keenly. If I saw one now at that price I'd buy it!

Anyway it turns out he was trade. I said to him go to the local shopping centre place. Have a think and if interested come back. I felt insulted.

No he absolutely isn't being paranoid. Have a browse through an MX or enduro forum and this type of theft is rife. These s do come back in the early hours and try and steal it.

Dog Star, when I sold my enduro bike, it was listed as all viewings would be done at my local motorcycle shop who I had approached to say can I use your forecourt. Anything local to you that you could use?
Yep - that’s not a problem. I’ll just have some mates with me in a car too.

I don’t think non-mx people have a clue just how much attention that quads and off-road bikes attract. It’s shocking - and it’s not confined to where you live, the stolen ones mostly end up on some urban sink estate. They’re like crack to them.
Wow that's an education for me.
