Out of interest, what is your aversion to posting? Do the buyers expect you to pay for it too?
I've bought a few "collection only" car and motorbike parts by organising the courier to collect from the seller, so all they have to do is pop it in a box. I'm just trying to find out what the best approach would be when asking if they actually would post despite saying they won't.

Starts off 'collect only'
Hi I'm in Razzmatazz I'm very interested.
Yes OK but it's price + any postage costs and you either bank transfer or pay PayPal fees.
More messages.
Penny drops that fees plus properly insured is XX ontop.
'Hi would you post it for original price including postage and PayPal included (with ME to cover incase I'm a scammer).
Go away.

Why collection only? Because if I post I have to find a box/packaging, I have to package it up and take it to the Post Office. Peoples expect fast delivery at minimal cost which doesn't compute in the real world - so they want first class delivery and pay second class delivery prices. If it's a courier collection, I have to wait in all day. And if I have to post/courier, then I may as well sell on eBay for more money.
Then...
Can you get it boxed up, local bike shops always give away boxes...
Okay...

Just advertised an Islabike (high end kid's bicycle) with a load of detail and info (I'm a cyclist so I'm pretty particular). First question was from a lady asking what the price is and what condition it's in, and then getting all p1ssy with me when I refused to ship it to Bulgaria via her suggested Colissimo Express scheme! No idea what the scam is here, but just go away.
Saw a gazebo advertised locally. It had been bought on Amazon, partially constructed before they realised it was too big, and was now being offered for sale, pickup only, for £50. But one of the advert pictures was the Amazon ad, where the new price was £59!
Sure, I'll drive to your house, pick up a gazebo where bits might be missing and it's got no guarantee, seems like a great plan over having the thing delivered, sealed, guaranteed, to my house, tomorrow, for an additional £9. Are people that thick?
Stockport? I saw that. Bizarre. Plus it wasn't a killer-deal size v garden enough to actually get ride anyway. Saw a gazebo advertised locally. I know this. You know this. But they must be making money from people who don’t! FB should have something in place to prevent it imo.
There's a Facebook group for people ripped off with VW transporter sale scams. Daily people post about scam sales. I.e. a very cheap T5 for sale Sir? Oh I'll pay up front then drive to Southampton or Aberdeen to find the too cheap van doesn't exist. Whose ripping off who if those that think they've found selling something from a mug seller that they don't realise is way too cheap?
Once years ago I had a bad accident. I decided to sell my bike on a forum and I received alot of private messages from other established forum users offering me 50% of the advertised price saying come on mate, I'm doing you a favour giving you peanuts for it.
Low prices bring out the worst in buyers generally anyway. If someone thinks they are getting a steal and are willing to punt a big chunk 'to secure it' who is the villain?
I'm selling a motorbike, it's absolutely mint and I've priced it well under what superbikefactory does.
So this week I receive a message from an interested buyer. He asked lots of questions including have the valve clearances been checked? I said I don't know/not that I know of and he said well I rebuild bike engines for a hobby and I know the main dealer charges £800 to do this as its a big job.
I know what's coming next.
He then adds so I'll take it off you for £800 less. I thanked him and explained my bike is cheapest in the UK by a country mile already. Thanks but no thanks.
I get that people want the best price but sometimes there are new ways to insult beyond 'best price pal"?

Xsara Picasso. Its actually one car I regret selling. It took me round Europe. Buyer Turner up and handbrake on tried driving it in 3rd gear telling me he was testing the clutch. I couldn't speak. I was shocked but calm.
He then said he needed to see a better one round the corner at a dealer tomorrow. He said it was older, higher mileage, more money but 'has a warranty mate'.
I said OK. Then ignored his numerous calls the next day.
My wife thinks I have a in my armour. Same when someone in Hamstead village used the bumper of my Subaru Forester to gauge where to park. I sat passively in the cafe watching whilst my wife looked in horror at me. I said nothing.
I think sometimes when something is soo blatant I go all passive and calm

One of the reasons for all the low-ball offers people are getting is because they try to buy stuff cheap to resell for a profit. I worked with a woman who did this on eBay years ago as a 'hobby' income.
Oh yes my browser let the cat out the bag when he said he rebuilds motorbike engines. So he's, at very least buying them as non starters and doing something with them..The fun continues with the flaky and the bizarre. bloke in Lancaster with a decent looking profile asks loads of questions - then asks me for my postcode for collection - doesn't reply all day then says simply 'postcode doesn't exist goodbye! And I'm blocked from questioning why? Seriously. Its pointless might as well just accept one of the bargain 1/2 advertised priced offers.
Now I'm thinking is his profile a scam front- if he comes rummaging round my garage he'll be in for a world of pain.

I noticed that it's quite easy to check the profile of the buyer from the message...
I always inspect their profile before deciding whether reply, and whether I want that person coming to my house. It's a good way of filtering out people you don't want to converse with.Me sorry its going in for PX at that price next week at a dealer
OK I'll buy it at that price then.
No sorry its less hassle to just get it picked up from the dealer as he's already seen it and is happy.
Yes but I can offer you cash now for that price.
Blocked.
I'm hindsight I should have marked it sold or pending but then the deal isn't done yet

I've just had a snotty rant message from someone who I must have forgotten to reply to over something I recently advertised. I was inundated with messages and it was difficult to keep track of who I had replied to and who was coming next to view etc. Apparently I didn't reply to him. Surly if the seller doesn't reply to you then you just move on with your life?
