I hope you have now changed the combination? Don't trust anyone wink
And don't set it to 0000

Yes I have, and I’ve told my kids, who’ve never had to use it, save for my elder son who lives in Germany, and has the habit of leaving my spare keys in a schrank drawer, in his house in Bielefeld.
Naturally I’ve also told my wife, who’s never had to use it either, but as dumb behaviour runs in her family, she’d almost certainly phone me to ask the combination anyway.
Totally o/t, but Bielefeld was one of my favourite postings. A great wee city and the Wilhelm Busche Strasse quarters were really good.

Still o/t, apologies, agree about Bielefeld, my kid was stationed in Detmoldstrasse, then when he married the fräulein that captured him, they bought a house on Filchnerstrasse, on the edge of Eastern Teutoburg Wald.

Did he end up in a prisoner of war camp?

This one had flames coming out of my ears.
My brother-in-law has started riding a bike in order to lose a bit of weight, and get fit.
The other day, his wife had gone on an overnight trip to visit one of their adult daughters, so my wife, his sister, invited him over for dinner.
He put his bike in our hall, drank a lot of booze, and phoned for a cab to go home, then called late at night to ask if it would be okay to collect the bike at 07.30 next morning.
I advised him that rather than wake us up, he could use the lockbox which is screwed into the wall next to the street door, and contains spare keys in case anyone forgets theirs.
I said, “Slide the small shield down to reveal the combination numbers, line up XXXX on the centre line, the box will open, let yourself in, take the bike, go out, lock the door with the keys and put the keys back in the lockbox.”
This he did, leaving the combination XXXX in place, as it was, instead of moving the numbers around to break the correct combination.
The keys were in the box, but if anyone had chanced their arm, they could have used the keys, and helped themselves.
When I told my wife, she flew to his defence, “Don’t have a go at him, he didn’t do it on purpose!”
I wanted to kill him.
Thats quite a lot of instructions to follow for somebody full of drink. I give him 9/10 for getting past 'slide the small shield down' biggrin

I take your point, but he’d seen his sister do it with rented homes in Florida, when she was lagging on vodka after 9 hours on a plane, and had just had a 45-50 minute ride in a rental, piloted by sober me, so it wasn’t as if the lockbox system was new to him.

On the other hand I like it when people do this, specifically the workmen accessing the flats I used to live in. Gave me access to the roof for late night smoking!

Hey, give him a break.
I get fed up with all this Frank bashing.
He didn't mention taxis, Nicky, Red, America and he didn't finish his post with something in French.
Leave him alone with a bit of luck he'll ...

To bring this off-topicity to a conclusion.
I'm not in Bielefeld, or indeed anywhere in Germany.

Dogs in eating establishments.

If it's not a Guide Dog then fk off outside with the smokers. rage
I ate in a place a while back where the people at the next table had dog with them. Doesn't bother me in the slightest but it seemed a bit harsh on the poor dog who watched my every forkful and begrudged me each one hehe
I've got one.
Ate in a restaurant just off the main shopping square in Lille where a very posh elderly lady had a dog on the seat next to her. It stank, yapped all the time and kept jumping up to put its paws on the table.
All the rest of the customers were looking at each other in a sort of "Wtf? " way.
Then it stood up on the chair and pissed, the whole lot pouring through the seat onto the floor.

Some people got up and started complaining (we'd already finished eating and having no French we just wanted to pay and leave), the staff were very apologetic but didn't have a go at the lady, just started cleaning up the piss.

The only thing I could think was that she was the owner or head of the family or something, very odd.

Oh I’m not so bad, but I’m better at looking like it all went sailing past me, and I didn’t notice.

Ah, but it's easier to claim consent when they're Sleepy. The other six are light sleepers and would object...

Alternatively, if you did feel Sleepy, would the other six join in with a chorus of #metoo ??? Someone ought to get a grip of that Snow White, and put her on the list with Epstein and Weinstein. And while they're about it, Prince Bloody Charming for kissing without first establishing consent, and Goldilocks too. Inviting yourself into a juvenile Bear's bed like that? Outrageous example to set the woke generation... rolleyes
