People vary not only in overall height but also in length of torso / length of leg. You can have two people who are the same height stood up but significantly different in height when sat down, for example.

If it annoys you that much, though, buy a car with electronically adjustable seats with memory function. smile
It doesn’t annoy me that much, and I can just imagine her face if I said, “Your car’s going in the shop for a couple of days, but you won’t have to jerk around, switching the seat position when it comes back.”
I don’t think that I CBA with that, but if I get a reasonable hit on the lottery, I’ll pay for her to switch the 2008 for a 5008, or at the very least a 3008 thumbup

I once lucked a teaspoon and wondered why my gf was tittering about it.

I soon found out, she'd used it to put the zebra finches' cod liver oil in their seed pots.

You live 'n' learn.

Guests and presenters on the BBC saying 'historic' when they mean 'historical'.

Historic = momentous event in the past (such as the signing of the Magna Carta)

Historical = something that happened in the past

Abuse cases are not 'historic'. They are historical.

And don't get me started on them mixing up the pronunciation of 'estimates'....

Which word should be used to indicate "making history" or "will go down in history" or "establishing new case law / setting a new record / establishing a new precedent"?

No, "neither" doesn't work for me.

The OED defines historic as "Famous or important in history, or potentially so." and Merriam-Webster has one meaning as "having great and lasting importance", whilst Collins has "Something that is historic is important in history, or likely to be considered important at some time in the future".

So if one declares something "an historic occasion" it can be (correctly) used to say that this occasion, that is happening right now, will potentially gain historical importance.

I’m annoyed that ‘an historic’ rather than ‘a historic’ is correct.

It's probably been said a million times before but people posting photos without the correct orientation. Especially people that know they're doing it but don't give a fk.

I would fully support a 1 month ban for such people to give them time to learn how to use the internet properly. It's not like there's a shortage of apps and programs that can do this for you before posting them. It's sheer laziness.

½ - the forgotten character. 1/2 and .5 are clumsy.

Bonus annoyance - the word 'agnostic' used in an IM&T context. 'Platform agnostic', 'Data agnostic'. It may be an accepted term but FFS, why?

Had a shock when purchasing my all time favourite crisps, Doritos. They now have a 'Touch of Lime' flavour. WTF!!! Doritos are a mans crisp, we have no requirement for lime.
Me and Mrs G29 buy the big share packs, you can get two flavours in one pack, so we get the BBQ rib and Touch of Lime flavour, game changer! Which way to the council thread?

Lynx deodorant. They've redesigned the caps and the button now slopes the opposite way to the way it did on the older ones, which I've still got a few of around. It means I've got to think about how I hold the damn can and l've managed to squirt it the wrong way three times already.

True.boxedin One of my former colleagues got the eye drops and superglue mixed up. Straight in, two squirts. Hospitalised for two days, ended happily though.cool

Project your annoyance at PH, that's where the issues lie. I've taken pics on my computer and turned them round, but as soon as they are posted up on here it turns them back again.

This: @#÷×=/^&*(¥?£_%%÷×
Annoys me, i'm assuming it's people using incompatible phone based emoticons on a forum base?
Do they never read posts and think WTF is that?

100%

I posted a pic a couple of weeks ago that turned. I opened up an editor on the PC and saved it in all 4 orientations, each time PH turned it on the preview. None of them being correct.

Nothing to do with the original pic, all about the upload.

One of my colleagues (who may have been slightly tiddly) grabbed the wrong tube from beside the bathroom sink and brushed his teeth with Anusol.
