Things that annoy you beyond reason...(Vol. 6)

½ - the forgotten character. 1/2 and .5 are clumsy.
Bonus annoyance - the word 'agnostic' used in an IM&T context. 'Platform agnostic', 'Data agnostic'. It may be an accepted term but FFS, why?
Yes, but I wanted to post "one third" earlier. Alt codes are all very well, if you can remember them, but even armed with the knowledge that "⅓" is Alt + 8531, when I type that combination, all i get is "S". So I then have to copy/paste the "⅓" from elsewhere, and it all takes time. So 0.33333r it is then.Bonus annoyance - the word 'agnostic' used in an IM&T context. 'Platform agnostic', 'Data agnostic'. Just as an aside, the older 1-3 digit ALT codes also work and save a little typing. You access them with the (left) Alt key and the numeric keypadAlt+171 is ½ (half)
Alt+172 is ¼ (quarter)
Alt+248 is ° (degree)
Alt+3 is ♥ (heart)
Alt+1 is ☺ (smiley face)
I remember them more by shape than number these days. 171 is bottom-top-bottom on the numeric keypad, for example.
Sadly there is no such code in that system for a third or for three quarters.
(Edited because I meant Left Alt not Right Alt)

Roadwork signage, specifically road closed signs.
Even more specifically, putting road closed signs on the approach to a 4 way roundabout with no indication which of the roads ahead were actually closed.
Turns out, none of them as it was a cul-de-sac off one of the roundabout exits. This annoyed me even more.

Project your annoyance at PH, that's where the issues lie. I've taken pics on my computer and turned them round, but as soon as they are posted up on here it turns them back again.
This: @#÷×=/^&*(¥?£_%%÷×
Annoys me, i'm assuming it's people using incompatible phone based emoticons on a forum base?
Do they never read posts and think WTF is that?

I posted a pic a couple of weeks ago that turned. I opened up an editor on the PC and saved it in all 4 orientations, each time PH turned it on the preview. None of them being correct.
Nothing to do with the original pic, all about the upload.

Me and Mrs G29 buy the big share packs, you can get two flavours in one pack, so we get the BBQ rib and Touch of Lime flavour, game changer!
What is the crisp, ( or potato chip for the US of A ), world coming too.
Lime?

But Doritos are for real men, company director types who smoke Marlboro, drive a Focus or ride a Honda moped. Go to the gym, so they can work off a family size Jalopeno pepper variety.

Doritos are bags of horrendous toss for the man-babies who can't handle proper, grown-up tortilla chips. What is the crisp, ( or potato chip for the US of A ), world coming too.

Alt+0188 = ¼
Alt+0189 = ½
Alt+0190 = ¾
Someone at IBM decided that was all the fractions you needed!

Use Left Alt Key and Numeric Keypad
Yes, sorry, I meant Left Alt not Right Alt.I've updated my post, although you've quoted the incorrect original so it's there for posterity now.

That link actually shows the 1-digit and 3-digit codes that I mentioned, as well as the 4-digit ones you mention. Edited by Clockwork Cupcake on Tuesday 23 July 16:40

I'll continue to do exactly as I please, more so now that I know it pisses you off.
I used to be annoyed beyond reason that cashback offers would be paid via cheque, and the pain the neck that paying in a cheque used to be.
But now I realise the alternative is worse - having to enter your bank details on a dogdy-looking website. I think I'd rather go back to cheques, especially since it is now possible to pay cheques in simply by scanning them with your phone using your bank's app.

So use a proper photo host then instead of the crappy one on here. Again, it's not like there's a shortage of them is it? Posting them upside down and sideways in threads and deeming that to be perfectly acceptable for the thousands of forum readers is complete BS. Anyone found doing it should be banned from posting photos altogether until they learn to be more considerate and ensure the photos have the correct orientation in 'preview' before posting to the world.
Screenshot your ‘displayed right way up’ photo to a file. Command+shift+4 In OS X. Not used windows for a while. Always turns up right way round.
