I remember once getting one of those "you had an accident" scam calls, and after asking several times I managed to get them to tell me a date I'd supposedly had said accident. I replied "well that's interesting, cos at that time my driving licence was suspended on medical grounds so it's impossible for me to have been driving, now ps off".

Why was it impossible for you to have been driving?

Yet you feel the need to use the childishly, cringeworthy expressions 'footballist' and 'cricketist' which are themselves examples of wilful ignorance.
Actually it's sarcasm, not ignorance as I'm deliberately using the terms ironically... And it's not my problem you can't get it.

Odd thing to say. I saw the news and heard the name last night, but it rang no bells. This sad death of someone involved in a minority sport in this country does seem to have been very widely reported. I wonder why.
Maybe not odd, he’s merely saying that if a well known footballer or cricketer died, he wouldn’t celebrate the fact that he was unsure who they were.
Unlike quite a few PHers, who appear to be proud of the fact that they didn’t know of Kobe Bryant.
Don’t know why that should be.

just like to re- add the band, "The lighthouse family", because I haven't mentioned them for a while.

and virtually everyone ever, ringing in to speak on the radio. especially people "shouting out" on popmaster to "all who know me".

we don't care, we just want to play the quiz as we drive along. I don't care you've been operating a lathe for 30 years and yr wife is called cindy and you've a dog and you support the football.................................
I have tried to get this post in English, but the 'translate' function doesn't recognise the language.

Can anyone help me?

Does anyone have any idea at all what he is talking about?
I'm annoyed by people posting on PH, attempting to be clever by correcting grammar and general literacy.
No. I simply didn't understand your post.

I thought it was imitation of Jeremy Clarkson more than sarcasm.

Yes, but thank you for pointing it out. On sale Thursday I believe, for Thursday 18th June. I'll have a heart-to-heart with my wife, no doubt, and we'll set ourselves a realistic price cap and also set our expectations of success realistically low. but it's nice to think we can have another bite of this particular cherry, for now at least...

How are these people celebrating their ignorance? By saying they don't know the deceased? confused How is that celebratory?

Good luck.

I've failed with those shysters Ticketmaster for both Aerosmith and Guns 'n' Roses. Unless I want to pay 5x the face value of course.

fking DFDS's website trying to be too clever!

If I have the language set to English it will only let me book a return from Dover to Dunkirk, not from Dunkirk to Dover. If I switch the language to Dutch I can book a return from Dunkirk to Dover rolleyes

But it won't let me book a return with a standard fare one way and a flexi back. So if I'm going to have to book 2 separate tickets in different languages. Muppets.

Local news on TV. There isn't any within the surrounding 50 miles. All come about when they merged regions to save money and going digital.

It's just Pistonheads. You can guarantee that if David Beckham or Ben Stokes died, there would be posters gleefully posting that they had never heard of them.

It's like replying to a thread about a maths problem and posting that you can't even count to 20 unless you take your socks off.

Why "gleeful"? They're not any happier to say they haven't heard of the deceased, surely?
