Tesco chino shorts are about £15 for two pairs.
may consider this.however i'd want something light/thin and (more importantly) stretchy. possibly linen..or something else. it doesn't have to be smart/formal. it just doesn't have to be cargo shorts or sports shorts.
ive got some black shorts that ill be wearing tomorrow. yipee!

M+S do a great range of very lightweight / walking type shorts ... baggy and just above the knee.
Wear them a lot here in Singapore - light cool and comfortable. And quick drying
smart enough for office wear in hot weather
I have half a dozen pairs of these and wear them continually between about March and October, always with boat shoes so I can slip my feet out to 'air'.Wear them a lot here in Singapore - light cool and comfortable. And quick drying
