I support Israel (though Netanyahu needs to be gone)
Not that unpopular. I support Israel and I think Netanyahu should refuse to negotiate anything until all of the remaining hostages are released. Then, and only then, should any talks take place. Hostages first. Talk second.
Indeed, it isn't an unpopular opinion. It's just that the Hamas apologists are trying to aplify theirs into making people believe it's popular.

However I think the sad fact is there will be few, if any hostages left alive.
Do either of you think there is any limit to how many Palestinian civilians should be killed before hostages are released?
I do find it interesting that hamas have successfully controlled the narrative to the point where the news reports 30,000 killed in Gaza, implication being that these are all civilians (mainly women and children) - no mention made of how many terrorists are contained within that figure. How many German civilian lives were lost during WWII? It's a tragedy but like in WWII a group of people are facing an existential threat (WWII it was the civilised West and the Jewish people - tragically Jews are still facing an existential crisis). As for a cease-fire - there was one in place (it was shakey but, on the whole, in place) certain events happened in October to shatter that...

I agree - an outrageous suggestion. censored

Edited to add that I meant the cheese comment. Not the comment about the Gaza stuff being left to NPE. I agree with that and wish I hadn't joined in with it.

What? You think that's an unpopular opinion?

It's the greatest TV show ever made, and one I have been watching and episode of every day for at least the last decade.

It's clearly the Sopranos.

Please stop this.

Which is also a brilliant series.

As is:

Boardwalk Empire
Banshee
Better Call Saul
Breaking Bad
Black Sails

in no particular order.

I don't like chips.
When you go to the chip shop they're always undercooked, greasy damp and limp. Most cafes do the oven chip style, thin chips that are better, but go cold quickly. What happened to the chips that were cut with one of those pressy things then put in a fking hot pan of oil in a basket. Ok we had the odd house burn down, but at least we had proper chips!

Sounds like you may need to try a different chip shop.

The average British chippy serves a pretty crap chip imo. Our town has an "Award Winning" chippy, highly rated. It's chips are slightly below average at best imo. We have several chippy's in our town, none of them can make a good chip, you have to go to one of the kebab or pizza places for good chips. In Derby and the surrounding suburbs, towns and villages, going out for some distance, there are only a couple that truly make great chips.

A good chip should be hot and crisp imo, with a soft fluffy centre, like McDonald's fries but in a full traditional UK chip size. Most chips are a soggy, greasy, lukewarm congealed lump. Utter garbage. A National disgrace. What beats me is folks saying "Great chips" when it's just the usual mediocre crap.

Pubs can generally serve good chips (unless labelled as hand cut triple cooked, that always rings alarm bells for me, it's usually a Jenga stack of misery or something mediocre in a separate fking mini basket). Traditional British chips shops just can't seem to do decent chips, their core product, they're just crap at it!

These look OK.

But this is what one usually gets, and far better than most.

I honestly had to stop watching The Wire as on the app I had, there was no way to turn on subtitles and I genuinely couldn't make out what they were saying half the time.

You sound like you’re Derbyshire way, have you tried George’s tradition?

IMO the best fish and chips you can buy, although the Loughborough branch shut down a year or two back but whenever I had them from there they were never poor quality, a Derbyshire company.

That's my beef. George's at Belper always had crap chips, George's at Allenton were always excellent. George's at Belper is now Nik's, the chips are still poor though. I've been known to get pie, peas and gravy there, then go to one of the kebab/chicken/pizza places for me chips. Or just walk a bit further to the King St chippy, their chips are still distinctly average, but far better than George's/Nik's.

Great profile pic btw biggrin

I have found one or two good cafes in my town that do okay chips, the best is Deja Vu in Bolton rd, with Seaside Cafe in Seaside rd a close second.
