How dare you say Taylor Swift is over rated!! redcard
Because she is.
Maybe a crap singer.... but she is rather cute.
She looks like a young Debbie Harry to me, and Debbie Harry is overrated.

Not sure I've ever heard Taylor Swift sing though.

I've seen no mention of appreciating good stuff.
Good coffee, good beer appreciation is ‘snobby’ according to your post, unless I’ve read it wrong?

Snobbery is denigrating the good in favour of something more exclusive. Nespresso is generally considered good but Otolith considers it crap hence the snobbery claim. Each to their own.

And back on topic, Steely Dan, The Clash and F10 M5s.

I think you should just think that through.

"Snobbery is denigrating the good in favour of something more exclusive"

"Nespresso is generally considered good but Otolith considers it crap hence the snobbery claim"

Three things you think are overrated

If you say that something is overrated, you are by definition denigrating something that is generally considered to be good.

I think what you meant to say is that snobbery is denigrating something that is good enough for your personal tastes.

Fair dos. This is exactly the thread for controversial opinions.

I didn’t make the snobbery claim but saw how that could be thought.

I am intrigued to know your choice of coffee though. coffee

I buy beans from the supermarket, grind them when I want to consume them and put them through an old Gaggia espresso machine. I get a massive choice of beans, I get them freshly ground, I get to choose the quantity of coffee per cup, and I don't generate any plastic waste. I could get better coffee by going to a local roaster or using a subscription service, but the stuff from Booths is fine.

I've had capsule coffee at other people's houses and in hotel rooms. It's better than instant, but it's not great, and to be honest I'd rather use a French press, filter machine or Moka.

Thanks, I’m all for cutting down on waste and will do similar once our Nespresso machine dies.

I don't even remember posting that, but I suspect it was a piss take; as in who rates her in the first place?!

I think you can get refillable pods for them, which deals with the waste and the coffee choice, but no idea how well they work.

We just ditched our Dyson last week as I was sick of Mrs Toon whinging about it. Bought a Shark. My word, what a difference. If there's an underrated thread, I'm putting the Shark in there!

The big Dyson models are very good ime, the handheld ones not so much.

Not sure if I’m missing something but it’s really easy to recycle the aluminium Nespresso pods; they provide bags with free post labels to send them back or you can drop them off in store (assuming you live close to a store).

Indeed. We had 2 Dysons in our house when we moved in together. Mine was better (a more expensive model) but it died last year leaving us with her old one. I've seen pensioners with no teeth suck harder than this thing. With our new Shark, one of us has to stand on one side of the rug while the other vacuums as the rug would just move with the cleaner.
