You must be on my local group. Local council is rubbish, too many houses being built, local council doesn't do anything about anything, there's a lot of dog poo.

Reminds me, it's been a while since anyone moaned about potholes.

I can beat that. One poster on a local group near me claimed the police helicopter was "pitching its blades" to produce a more compressive acoustic thump which was a "well known psychological warfare tactic they used in Northen Ireland". Quite why a chopper would do this over the motorway escapes me but he claimed the rotor bearings on a civilian chopper weren't up to it & he'd complained to the police & the CAA.

The next village on from me is very Council, often people posting up on their page seem to forget it's not a private conversation.
Just recently we learned some woman had her new bloke round for the night when her ex came by, he smashed up the car parked outside in the street which turned out to be someone visiting the neighbours frown

I'm often tempted to add sarcastic comments to some of the more idiotic posts on our local FB pages but I don't want banned as there are occasionally some interesting nuggets of information.
Where as I and many others offered help to a lad who was trying to get work cutting grass and gardening but had many many spelling mistakes in his advert. He didn't want the advise turned aggressive and was messaging me asking for a fight................

He then got removed from the groups and blocked by me.

I used to take great sport in winding up people in my local one.

I have the fortune/misfortune to live in a very affluent hertfordshire village... i love the place, but the residents are 95% rich entitled w*****s, this comes though on the village facebook group in spectacular fashion. People complaining about passers by putting a crisp packet in their wheelie bin, complaints about people parking vans outside their big houses, that sort of rubbish.

I left the group a few months back as it just wound me up too much in the end, which was a shame as the odd piece of useful local info would crop up.
You don't happen to live in Much Hadham by any chance? wavey Or are there two such places in Hertfordshire?

I'm just creating mischief in the group for the next village down the valley.

There's talk of a shooting range being built behind the coal tips.

Live in a village south of Chelmsford. A chap has recently purchased one of the two pubs we have and is in the process of upgrading it to gastro-pub.

Commissioned an artist to paint this on the side of the pub:

Being a former graphic designer, the quality leaves a bit to be desired but I rather like it. Makes you smile and adds a bit of quirky character to the place.

It has, however, broken the internet round our way. The local Facebook group has gone into utter meltdown. Someone complained to the council and the poor bloke now has to paint over it.

This has resulted in an unseemly round of arguments on the group with those who previously ridiculed it saying they didn't mean for it to be taken down and others saying why did you say anything .... blah, blah, blah..

Quite daft and has even made the local news and Frank Bruno's event stepped in!

Our local group is pretty much the same (I think they all are to be honest) with lots of recommend me this, what time does the bus leave, the local busses are crap, the local busses are brilliant, anyone recommend a good Chinese (difficult when all the local pig ones are st) etc..

The one thing I have noticed having been part of the village group for where I live now and the group for the village I lived in previously - there is always one local nut job who has an opinion on everything, and their opinion (according to them) is never wrong.., the know it all nutter in the current group recently got banned after starting a post about an accident on the main road to the village - the weather had been atrocious and a young girl had clearly aquaplaned off the road - but nope, she had driven past about 30 minutes after it happened whilst the car was being recovered and determined the young girl was speeding - a couple of locals had witnessed the accident and defended the young girl following which it all kicked off..

Our village is expanding all the time too... the “locals” hate the main developer with a passion (there seems to be someone throwing nails and screws out on the local roads that is being blamed on the developer) and posting about how the village isn’t what it used to be since “the new houses were built”.. from what I can work out your house is new if less than 10 years old and people living in said houses are not “locals”

Always good to look through though if you have time to waste.. just for the comedy of some of the content.
Sounds like my village, are you not located somewhere in Kent? Not wanting to get to precise with the actual location.

Yes, Kent... not quite as far as the Medway tunnel and hang a left up the hill...

Well, I've brought out all the nutters with my deliberately antagonistic post about gun ownership and the shooting range.

The "p" bomb has been dropped because I hold a running coaching licence. And apparently, driving a car fast on race tracks is much less sane than wanting to own a device whose sole purpose is to kill living creatures.

I await one of them to really lose the plot just so I can say 'I rest my case'. People who like guns are unstable nut jobs...

It seems someone who put their dog into care for a holiday with a local 'kennel' has had issues i.e the dog has had to be put down. It's hit the local news, but a few of the local residents are convinced the owner is guilty regardless. Admittedly he's taken his Facebook and website offline which hasn't helped.. Council have advised him to stop trading due to no license which he's done.

He seems to have been hung drawn and quartered before any investigation has been carried out by the RSPCA/Police. It's interesting to watch the mob dynamics develop.

IIRC it is only a recent requirement for dog daycare / kennels etc to be registered, so many still aren't. The "boutique dog hotel" we use for daycare has been registered with the local council since they opened. However, they currently have a 16yr old poodle in while the owners are on holiday and, having seen the poor thing wobbling round and refusing to eat, I'd hate to be the one to make that decision. Saying that, I wouldn't go on holiday leaving an unwell 16yr old dog behind.

They are a hilarious read but I have a rule that I won't post in any threads. The internet really does give you an insight into worlds you would never have believed could exist. They all get a vote, that's the terrifying thing.

What used to do my head in when I lived in a village was people complaining/taking pictures of people not picking up their dog st.

Yes it’s disgusting, very annoying, shouldn’t happen, but this was every single day, sometimes more than once a day. It literally turned In to the village dog poo police page.

Our local one now for a suburb of a small town is a bit less annoying but still it’s the same idiots posting constantly.
