I can now answer my own question, had it happen again, but this time they sent a generic reply a few hours later, I played along for a bit until they started mentioning crytpo and how they loved to invest in it. Bingo, this is the scam. My guess is they bank your profile by simply liking your message then as and when their call centre has time to start the scam your are in their queue, if they run out of time your profile falls to the bottom of the list, and you never hear from them again, much like when you get a call but no one is on the end of the line as you answer, as all the call centre scammers are busy already!

So if you are trying hinge and this happens to you, just delete before they make a start wasting your time.

That Daily Mash article is pretty much spot on for most that reply to you now with OLD, its just something they do while bored, never any intention of meeting for real. They treat it simply as a chat room.

When I used online dating, if i was interested I was meeting within two weeks max or binning them off. Sod the phone calls first as well. Wasn't after pen pal or a phone buddy - few exchanges to make sure they're 'decent' enough and then boom.

My approach is a bit of a progression. Obviously make initial contact on whatever app, quick chat on whatever messaging system they have to weed out the scammers, time wasters and general idiots. Get them over to Whatsapp for a couple of messages to arrange a phone call. Couple of phone calls then ideally a video call so both parties can assure themselves everything is “as advertised”, then onto arranging a date.

I don’t see why the whole process from first contact to first date should take more than a week if both sides are genuinely committed to it.

In the morning once the bank was checked she did say she'd have preferred the money being spent on her rather than lapdancers, but she didn't exactly say no at the time. I've never done it here so it was something new and being with a girl I think is preferable to a group of drunk guys, but neither of us will be rushing back. I still think unless you can fk them there's no point.

Yeah it’s all good, both said that we’ll just enjoy it and see where it takes us. We did talk about making plans to go away at weekends etc.
